Niagara-on-the-Lake was originally the site of a Neutral Nation village known as Onghiara. Following its resettlement, by British Loyalists, the village became the first capital of Upper Canada in 1792. The British, along with Six Nations forces and other Native allies, fought Americans for control of this strategic town and region during the War of 1812. Famous Native leaders such as Joseph Brant, John Norton, and John Brant walked these hallowed grounds while they forged and maintained diplomatic relations with Sir William Johnson, John Butler, Sir Isaac Brock, and other historical figures who collectively shaped and defined the borders and character of a new nation.

Six Nations House is appointed with artefacts and decor to respectfully recognise the Six Nations and Native ally contributions to the development of Canada.

My wife doesn’t answer surveys, but I m happy to provide this one. The place was spotless. Everything in the house, save the furniture, was, I think, virtually brand new. The house was comfortable, well decorated, and the neighborhood was quiet. We are three retired couples that comprise a “supper club” and any one of of us would have happily made this our home. The place is very convenient for walking into town and enjoying all of the dining options— big thumbs up for the Irish Harp Pub. We also drove to a number of wineries for tastings. The local wine industry apparels to be fairly large and this wines, particularly the Pinots and barrel aged Chardonnays were surprisingly good. I know that Niagara- on-the-Lake is best known for its Shaw Festival, but I would highly recommend this town and this house for a 3–4 day getaway in a very relaxed, pleasant atmosphere.

The entire house had been cleaned to perfection. The location was excellent, allowing us to walk into town to enjoy the restaurants. If there is one suggestion I can make and it is a small one, the kitchen was a little short on utensils for cooking and updated nicer wine glasses could be added.

The house was absolutely gorgeous, with four full, extremely spacious Master suites, all with very comfortable beds and quality linens. The large kitchen/dining room was well equipped, and that along with the cozy sitting room proved to be a wonderful space for our group of friends to gather. The entire home was meticulously maintained, and beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with quality furniture and gorgeous artwork. In addition, it was located an easy walk to the shops, restaurants, coffee shops and theaters on Queen street. I cannot recommend Six Nations House highly enough for a group of friends or family, a stunning property in the heart of vibrant NOTL. We will return!
