Matai Cottage - Pakawau Bach

Location is awesome . The bed is excellent. The bach was very comfortable.

No wifi but that was only a minor hassle

Location perfect, views from the lounge window gorgeous, not over looked and quiet surroundings except for the beautiful birds song

Exterior of the bach needs repairing in some areas especially the decking, and inside the property requires some upgrades

Great location, from the moment you turn into the street you feel like you are on vacation with lush trees all around. When entering the property you are met with a quaint cottage with a wrap around porch with an incredible view. The ocean comes right up within meters of the back porch during high tide creating an awesome ambience with the waves crashing against the rocks. During low tide you get to walk for meters and meters as the ocean withdraws leaving behind beautiful shells as far as the eye can see. There is also some incredible bird life in the treetops. Inside there are lots of boardgames to keep the family engaged during those rainy days of which unfortunately our family stay had lots of, close proximity to a lot of things and places to experience of which visiting Wharariki beach was the highlight.

Negative would be that the unit definitely needs some much needed upgrades both external and internal, furniture is quite old and musty. The shower/bath facilities is small and awkward and with only one toilet it can be tricky to navigate with 6 people.
