Made and her team made us feel so welcome. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Beautiful swimming pool well looked after. Will visit again anytime .
The only access to the villa is by scooter, aproximately 500m from main road. We love walking and it was quiet at the villa, so this worked for us. If you dont walk, make sure to rent a scooter if you are planning being out and about during the day.

Amazing view in the middle of rice fields.
Great place to disconnect from the busy roads and enjoy the sound of the nature.
The owner is very nice and helps you to reach the property according to your schedule (no access with car).
If you are a cat lover, that’s definitely the place for you! 🐈🐈⬛
It was all good, the bed was a little too rigid for the Western standard but you are in Indonesia 🙂

Beautiful, peaceful, spacious villa,
We booked for a night and extend our stay.
The villa had a kitchen, fridge, water dispenser, all the facilities we needed.
The pool and sun lounger area was great to cool off and relax. Made was a great host, she looked after us well. The villas are located just 5-10 minutes away from Ubud centre on the motorbike or a nice walk taking around 30 minutes.
I would just mention there is no access for cars, but Made will bring your luggage if you come by car, also the track is a bit steep to the road so you need to be careful especially if you have a big motorbike.

The room is spacious, I love the kicthen facilities, love the ricefield
It was too far from main road, the acces is very narrow among the ricefield. If you are not good with scooter, love to get drunk in the night, i dont think this place is suitable for you. But for those who love calm, nature, dont mind with the tiny acces, this place is perfect.

The host lady was super lovely and helpful. The villa was clean and very spacious. The bathroom is very aesthetic. The villa is not very close to town, but you could rent a motorbike from them for Rr 100.000 per day

I had a truly rejuvenating stay at Shiva Nanda Villas. Tucked away from amidst lush rice paddy fields, this place offers a serene escape from the noise and pace of daily life. The natural surroundings are absolutely beautiful- waking up to the gentle sounds of nature and the sight of endless green was a real treat for the soul. One of the things I appreciated most was the cool, calm, & silent ambience. Because it’s located far from main road, there’s no traffic noise- just peaceful stillness, perfect for anyone to rest, reflect, or recharge mentally. It’s the kind of place where you can truly disconnect and feel at peace.
On top of that, the host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help the guest with a smile and helpful tips, making the stay even more meaningful.
Few things to consider before booking:
1. The path from the main road to the villas has limited lighting, so it’s the best to bring a flashlight or use your phone torch at night.
2. This villas have a small road- only can be accessed by bike or bicycle. So please rent a bike or booking for Grab Bike. Some grab bikes had trouble finding the villa’s location, as its situated in the middle of the rice fields- peaceful but a bit tricky to access if you’re not familiar with the area.
3. The bathroom is open-air, which adds to natural feel, but I personally wasn’t too comfortable when a frog hopped in (though this may not bother everyone).
4. There are outdoor cats around the property (belongs to the host-but clean and good cats), and they always bring to us a night meals which is RATS, but need to understand it’s a part of staying close to nature.
5. Booked for Hanuman room, but the bathroom door can’t lock-as the toilet is open-air, so I felt a bit insecure.

Shivananda Villas are set in between peaceful and beautiful rice fields, close to central Ubud.
The host has been helpful with driving me with my massive backpack on the scooter all the way down from the main road to the property.
Upon arrival I had the very pleasant surprise of about a dozen of kittens greeting me. They're all so sweet and beautiful, loved to be pet.
The room and the pool looked very good, very spacious as well with a kitchen, so did the exterior shower/bathrooms with the tropical plants arrangement.
A drinkable water fountain is already in the room which makes life so easy, a must have in Bali! Much better than 2 tiny bottles per day as you see in many other places.
To start with, I was disappointed on a few areas, especially for the price I spent during this stay. The standards are not there, a few essentials are missing or not taken care of seriously.
It took about 15 minutes for the host to get onto the main road to get me, takes really 3mins. I guess she wasn't really rushing despite me texting her live of my arrival time.
The cleanliness and comfort are not there. Old stains? on bedsheet and bath towels, dust and the kitchen cutlery barely washed if not just rinsed, with dried food and oil remains on the forks, knives and spoons. The kitchen sink as well is in lamentable conditions, probably never washed with an actual cleaning product.
The bed was beautiful, but sooooo hard! Felt like sleeping on concrete. A bit painful to walk barefeet from the shower to the sink on the small rocks, there's no designed path.
No service, make your own bed, take care of your own trash and basically clean up after yourselves... again, quite disappointing for the price.
Another thing not being taken care of is the pool area, there's only 2 lounging chairs with a sarong on each, no pool towels provided and not very happy to say that it's full of dust, grub and ants.
I was quite disappointed in the breakfast as well. It was included in my stay but I really shouldn't have had paid for it. Just eggs on a piece of toast, tea and fruits/fruit juice. It did get gradually better throughout the rest of the stay in terms of what was in the egg omelette aside from just... eggs, but still not enough food and quite dull.
Lastly, and it breaks my heart to say this, but the kittens as cute as they were were quite invading.
Now I'm unsure if they're malnourished or cheeky and used to being fed by the guests, but as soon as breakfast or any food will come... they were on the case! And they didn't leave until I had put my food away or in the bin.

It’s a very nice and quiet place. There are some wonderful cats around, they’re really sweet and well cared. It’s nice to be in the middle of rice fields. GoJek and Grab can reach easily the location but early in the morning it’s a bit difficult so probably is better if you walk up to the main road (5 mins walk). The host Made is simply lovely. WiFi is great.
Nothing to say.

The place is very beautiful, in the middle of the rice field. You need to consider using a means of transport, like a scooter, because it is impossible to get around without one.
The owner is kind but not very expert in managing guests. We were put under some pressure regarding the checkout time because the lady had to rent the room to another guest after we had spent 2 nights there. Otherwise, everything was fine.
Dirty pool
Pressure of check out

Super quiet and peaceful. Nice pool. Adorable cats but maybe better to sterilize them? One just had babies again, and the other one was pregnant again. I had a nice massage in the room, arranged by the owner’s friend. Beautiful surrounding rice fields.
Ask the property to send you the location, as the location in booking.com is not right. Would also be nice if they had a small floor towel by the door for when you get out of the shower. Best to have a scooter if you stay here, as it’s a bit far out. We had a scooter so it was perfectly fine and suitable for us.

Very quietly located in the nice fields.
Owner very friendly. Helped us a lot with the luggage.
Not clean. The kitchen was not clean at all and the outdoors bathroom as well.
Pool could also be cleaner but was ok.
Not enough towels. But we received some when we asked.
Breakfast available but we had egg shells in our scrambled eggs.
Not recommended to eat outside as cats will always jump onto the table.

We really liked the fact that you are in the middle of the rice fields, but at 4 minutes walking to the main road where all the restaurants are.
So you don't hear the noisy road, but crickets, frogs and far away a rooster.
In the night you can see fireflies!
We spend 5 or 6 nights here and loved this place for the rest.
We sometimes ordered breakfast at this place and sometimes at on of the many places at the road.
The prize/quality was okay!
There's nothing I can think of that I didn't like. However, if you like to stay at a bustling place where you can meet lots of other people, this is not the place because it has only 3 huts/bungalows. Although we met a lot of people, we met them in the neighborhood.

Views were beautiful. The villas were as pictured and on the surface looked great.
Upon arrival the kitchen was INFESTED with ants. Literally the countertops were covered black in ant carcasses. I spent over $100 AUD to buy bug and ant killer. The cupboards were infested. It took days to kill most of them, rendering the kitchen unusable. The main villa has an active termite/wood borer infestation leaving piles of dust daily.
The caretaker has cats who are super friendly and malnourished. They poop in the villas. The poop is never cleaned by the staff without prompting. We were told to feed the cats outside so they don’t poop inside - we never fed them inside.
All garbage is stacked at the entrance and left to rot. The smell is horrendous. All my clothes smell like a garbage tip.
The main villa has one small AC unit that does not service the whole unit.
The bathroom was not cleaned once during our stay. There are piles of dirt in all corners and it is not clean.
Mosquito nets are grey with dust and dirt.
Had to buy cutlery, soap and rags to clean the villa myself.
Waterfall at the pool are turned off during times when in use as they deem it “unnecessary”. Lights on the path are turned off before dawn.
The caretaker decided to only come once every other day - of which we were not aware.
Random “staff” hung out in the guest area outside of work hours to use the wifi. We were told they were like “family” and it’s “ok”.
The kitchen where the “breakfasts” are made is abysmal and filthy.
We paid over 1k to leave early and stay and a new villa.
Do not recommend AT ALL.

We absolutely loved our villa! The owners are very friendly and helpful. Very quiet place, in the middle of the rice fields, the house is made of wood. The views are amazing!
Stayed during the raining season, couldn’t enjoy the swimming pool 100% - could have been a bit cleaner.

Great, calm place to stay away from crowded and overrated Ubud and to watch local people working on fields and construction sites. Very helpful and friendly staff!
It is not changeable, but it takes a while to walk there. In the evening, you need to carry a torch. But the staff is very helpful taking our luggage from the car and back when checking out.

Loved the quiet of being outside the noise of the busier parts of Ubud. The sounds of nature were an orchestra at night! Bugs, frogs & lizards. Spotted some fire flies in the rice fields. The pool was awesome, staff were friendly and the cats really made it feel homely.
Loved it all but my only caution would be that if your not on a scooter, you'll need to walk a good few hundred meters from the road as it's off the beaten track.

I absolutely loved this place. Highlights: family who owns the place were amazing; absolutely beautiful outdoor shower and bedroom; there’s a family of the most beautiful, social, and sweet Angora cats (about 11 of them) living on the property; close enough to busy of Ubud but secluded enough so it’s quiet and peaceful (35-40 minute walk, about 8 minute ride, Grab motorcycle was less than $1 USD to Ubud city center); in the middle of rice fields (beautiful view); nearby a Circle K. Be mindful: if you have a big bag, you have to walk a narrow path among rice fields to get to property (not reachable by car, about a 5 min walk), owners picked me up in their motorcycle (they even woke up at 2 AM to take me to the main road so I wouldn’t walk alone…the nicest thing).
Everything was wonderful.

Fantastic, quiet property, with very helpful staff and beautiful pool and room. Location amongst the rice fields was peaceful and the property had cats & kittens.
Only accessible by scooter, staff will came to collect us and bags from the road.
Far enough out of the centre to be peaceful, not to far out that you couldn’t access central Ubud with a 5-10 minute scooter ride dependent on traffic
Only accessible by scooter

If you don't mind walking a little (30-40min. to the town centre of Ubud) and prefer a rather laid-back and peaceful setting, this is a perfect accommodation for you. The villa is beautifully set among the rice fields and your host Made is very forthcoming and does her best to make you feel comfortable. Since I didn't rent a scooter myself, she even drove me to a big supermarket in town, so I could do my grocery shopping for self-catering. The kitchen isn't broadly equipped, but good enough to cook your own meals if you want to.
I really appreciated that there was a big tank of drinking water in my room to refill my own water bottle for the fridge, so I could avoid buying plastic bottles!
If you like going out at night, this is probably not the right place for you. Even if you rent your own scooter, driving the narrow paths through the rice fields in the dark could be quite challenging.

The villa was amazing, huge amount of space. WiFi was great, there were a few nice cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The cats and outdoor shower were a very nice touch
The path from the main road to the villa wasn't great. It's a 10 min drive or 45 min walk to the main street so you'd need a scooter or taxi to get down

the energy in this place is amazing, you are in the middle of the rice fields. While you are in the coziness of your accommodation , you can still feel the village life. To me it was very very refreshing. The hosts are so vibrant and accommodating, one of the rare places that you feel that they genuinely care about you and are not working for money. They treated us with a free breakfast and were always there to help with anything needed.
At night you have a beautiful orchestra of the nature. Frogs, geckos, insects, dogs and birds sing harmoniously together. just let go and sleep 😊
