Protaras Fig Tree Bay Villa Buena

So, our stay at this villa was 'fine'. The most redeemable feature about this property is the location. It is a short 5 minute walk to a very popular swimming spot with turtles, maybe 10 minutes walk to Fig Tree Bay and just over 10 minutes to the start of the main restaurants and shops. The pre-check in process was also good. We received the details of the villa, how to check in etc. in plenty of time and in general we received quick responses to our queries and issues.

This villa is TIRED. The photos have clearly not been updated since the villa was built. Here are the main issues we identified: There are soooo many tiles missing from the pool and they are just chucked out into the 'driveway' in a pile. We had multiple cuts to fingers and toes due to the sharp edges in the pool. There is also a chunk missing on one of the surrounding edges that was tripped on. The villa itself is set on what feels like an abandoned piece of land that is not looked after at all and is obviously used as a dumping ground for rubbish etc. The surrounding hotel buildings are also abandoned and falling apart. The shower/bath leaks directly into the kitchen. It was very clear when we arrived from the stain on the ceiling that this has been an ongoing issue. When we raised this to the owners they were very quick to send someone out but it was not fixed by the time we left. The air conditioning unit by the TV does not work BUT the air con unit further in the downstairs space works well enough to keep the area cool. The kitchen needs renovating, the cupboards and doors all have expanded wood due to water damage (we assumed from the leaking shower) but possibly just from not being cleaned properly after use. The shower door sits inside the bath due to the positioning of the window. This was fine for myself and my children but we would figure anyone tall or broad would not be able to use this and move around successfully. It also doesn't open due to catching on the bath so impossible to turn it on without getting wet!! After leaving we were then informed that we have exceeded the electricity usage. They later conceded that no charge would be applied as we have informed them or the issues and the upstairs light (attic room) already being on when we arrived and not being able to turn it off. But the electricity allowance is not enough. None of the above was enough to 'ruin' our holiday BUT it definitely did not meet our expectations.
