Munduk Heaven Luxury Villas

I love boutique hotels, and Munduk Heaven Villas did not disappoint! With only 10 rooms, this little gem was a memorable stay. I wish I knew a little more about the owner/architect because the hotel grounds are rather small, but they are so beautifully and thoughtfully designed. There were art pieces everywhere including multiple giant dragon sculptures that were so impressive. The design of the floating villas was SO cool. The rooms were just outstanding--so creative, well designed, private, and restful. The wrap around deck and wrap around windows allowed us to feel immersed in nature. Despite having 5 floating villas, we still felt alone like we had a completely private experience. Great design! The food was so good; the views for dining were spectacular. The papaya smoothie (I think it was called the heaven smoothie?) was one of my favorite drinks in our 3 weeks in Indonesia. Our hibachi chef was so personable and kind--it was a fun unexpected dining experience. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to test out the spa, but we really enjoyed just using this time to relax and rest after exhausting days of travel across East Java. Thankfully, our room had more than enough hot water to supply the bathtub and the shower--we gratefully did not feel like we had to be cautious/ration the hot water. The funicular was also a fun experience to help us travel back and forth from our villa to the restaurant/lobby although a winding stair path was also available if preferred.

As another guest mentioned, we did open all of the beautiful glass doors to feel totally immersed in nature (which we did!), but since the location is in the mountains/clouds, we discovered that our clothes/suitcases quickly became damp. This didn't really bother us, but it was notable. Also, the valley is gorgeous and peaceful but it is a sound amplifier. It is worth mentioning that any sound--for us it was yard work and motos--is amplified so the peaceful nature sounds are frequently interrupted. We were not ready to talk about adventure/spa/itinerary options at the time of our arrival (although the front desk did ask us about our plans), but we would have liked to have some pamphlet/reading material with options in our room to look at later after check in. The hotel neighbors their sister company which I think does ATV/trekking/tours, but we never got any information about that, so we chose to just relax in the room for our stay. It is also worth noting that I am not sure I would have enjoyed my stay if I did not book the floating villa. Lastly, the pool is GORGEOUS but high in the mountains, it was still pretty cold in late June.

Help me to create a review for Munduk Heaven Luxury Villas in Bali. One of my fav resorts in Bali. I want to say that the hotel experience was amazing, we stayed in the villas and teh view was spectacular, as the room. People were so kind, the restaurant's food was good and they arranged transportation for us every single time. I would 100% recommend staying here

Sadly the room (and the resort itself) did not meet our expectations on multiple aspects. It is clear that maintenance has not been a high priority over the past years. The most concerning thing for us were nails sticking out (up to 3 mm) from the floor of our room (we decided not to walk barefoot inside of our room, because the risk for injury was to high!). Besides this, the upstairs windows were very dirty and the sheets on the upstairs bed clearly had not been changed in a long time and had stains all over them (we ended up not using the upstairs area at all). Besides the issues with the room, the manager came over as very pushy (trying to sell a special dinner), and also for us seemed to be very unfriendly to his own staff.
