Overall the property is pretty much what it claims to be. Finding the correct beach through the maze of buildings is a little annoying but it was a reasonable walking distance. Biggest complaint is the EXTRA CLEANING FEE that isn't charged by VRBO. It is technically in the fine print of the listing, but in my opinion should be in the up front cost paid online.

This unit is in need of repairs and updating. The toilet did not work properly and all the appliances were old. There was a large cleaning which didn't make sense considering the place wasn't that clean. The unit has screens with shutters that can't be sealed off and the screens are old with lots of holes so it is impossible to keep out insects. You may as well be camping. The only saving grace is the complex and location. The property has beautiful grounds and a basically private beach.

This was our first stay on the south end of Kauai and this property with its location and accessibility to the beach and sites in the area was ideal. Our apartment was very nice, comfortable, welcoming. Appreciate the amenities of the complex, towel service, check in, parking.

The athletic club across the street was great. Close to the beach. No air conditioning. A few critters (cockroaches) to contend with. Not a lot of privacy with the open windows open.

I have to tell the story so that no one else goes through the same thing. I arrived in Kauai and spent 4 wonderful days at a resort in Hanalei (which I highly recommend in the north). But when I arrived at this property in Poipo it was a nightmare! They have a nest of cockroaches throughout the unit. According to the management, they tried to kill them with a spray that didn't work (they only spent 2 minutes and they put two traps). They never offered to change my unit. Only Katie the host wanted to give me back the remaining money because I had already spent one night 😱. Not even the full amount... The entire resort is dirty. Unfortunately I couldn't find another room and I had to stay doing thousands of things to not attract more cockroaches. Every day I covered the pipes, closed all my suitcases, and disinfected everything before using it. Definitely not the kind of vacation we expect. I tried to do everything possible so that my young daughters didn't suffer on their vacation. They couldn't even lie on the floor like any other child because of the negligence of the resort. The receptionist mocked me sacrastically saying "welcome to Hawaii" and justified herself by saying that this type of insects were normal. But IT IS NOT TRUE! I spoke with local people who live there and other property owners and they all agree with the same thing. It is NOT Normal!!! The unit has cockroach problems. I hope you take my recommendation!!

Enjoyed how close to the beach we were and loved having access to the pool and athletic club. No a/c in unit but good cross breeze and fans which kept us comfortable. Paid laundry units within walking distance.

Property was fine. Kitchen lacking in some places. Appliances seemed on the cheaper side, which didn't matter too much as we ate out primarily. One of the beach chairs was broken, so both adults couldn't sit together on the beach. Biggest issue was that the property had us scheduled to depart a day before we were booked through and we ended up locked out of the condo while they contacted the owner. Was a little stressful. Location is great for access to shops and restaurants

We stayed here for a few nights toward the end of our trip so we could explore the South shore. Solid location close to Poipu beach and lots of restaurants and shopping. Bed was big and comfy. Our main issue was the gnat problem in the bathroom. It’s a beach front property with a pool but the pool is across the street in the fitness center they partner with; we did not ever go to the pool though so this was less of an issue, just something to consider if you plan to use it. The beach is short walk as the property is closer to the street entrance which did lead to some highway noise.

The suite was very clean and has a very comfortable king bed. It was nice to have two TVs so when we put the little one in the main room to bed, we could watch TV in our bedroom. One of The Tommy Bahamas beach Chairs was broken and the fan in the main room is not working up to full speed, but the fan in the bedroom was very powerful we didn’t miss the AC

Great location. Clean and comfortable. Snorkelling is great on the beach and of course the turtles coming up every evening is amazing. We have tweens and location was great for us. No AC, but you adjust quickly. Open up at night and close up in the mid-morning.

We were just a little disappointed in the details of the condo. Although it was clean, it was a little worn and dated. None of the furniture matched the photos and several items listed didn't match what was listed on the VRBO website. The table legs were so loose we had to call to have them tightened, the living room fan had one low speed and the remote to it didn't work. The box fan didn't work. Since the unit didn't have air conditioning, these things were important. There was no umbrella. One of the beach chairs was very broken and the one beach "boogey" board was actually a tiny kick board. The shower handle needs to be replaced or tightened down but was functional. The bedroom was great! Overhead fan fast and cooling and that room had the only operational tv. Great king size bed, lots of clothing storage. It just felt neglected and like the owner hadn't been there to check on things in a while. We still enjoyed our stay and the price was reasonable, but think the photos and description need updating. matched

I stayed at Kiahuna Plantation with my family when I was a kid, and I was very excited to come back with my children now. It is a truly unique place, a real Hawaii feel as opposed to resort feel. This condo unit is in great shape and well cared for. It is set back a bit from the beach area, but that worked well for us as it was very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful place, beautiful trip. We will be back.

My wife and I spent 4 days here and had a fabulous time. The condo was tidy and had sand chairs, an ice chest, an ironing board, snorkle gear and a boogie board to use as we wished. The 3 minute walk on the beautiful property grounds to the beach made our time here even more memorable!

Positives: - great location - close to beach, shops - clean - fitness centre has good facilities - Apartment is well equipped Things that weren’t so good: - the cleaning fee is outrageous! - fitness centre with pool is separate and across the road. It is good but it is only open till 6.45pm which is a bit limiting. - we were there for 8 nights but had no change of sheets/ towels/ etc. I would have expected this especially given the cleaning fee - check out is a bit of a hassle if you are leaving early but want to use beach towels before you go as you can’t return then till after 8am. - some tea and more coffee would be good together with milk

Love this nice little place! Has all of my favorite places near by! My family owns a home here, but we had a lot of people in town, so we needed to rent a little place for a few others to stay at that was near by! This place has a fair price, and was in walking distance from pretty much everything nearby!! Also as everything you need inside! Bed, shower, kitchen! It was great! We will definitely be going back to this place soon!

The condo is not as shiny as the pictures seem. Had several maintenance issues to include a rotting baseboard in the shower - the showerhead is pretty much sprays out of of the shower and there is no curtain. The kitchen sink leaks under the cabinet, and they were standing water with mold. The entire condo was pretty dirty to include lots of sand and candy wrappers plus chocolate on the furniture. It had two extra futons as advertised, but NO extra bedding for these mattresses. Several of the jalise windows did not work and the second box fan is broken.

The property was nice. Loved the beach access. The listing I chose said ‘Beachfront’ and it’s anything but. Our building was actually the furthest from the beach, a short 10 min walk, closest to the main road. The complex was very quiet though. The dining room table was filthy and had a ton of dried food and dirt stuck to it. We grabbed a bowl for dinner and it had dried popcorn and butter stuck all over it. The next night grabbed a dish from the cabinet and it slipped right out of my hand, from all the grease. Needless to say, we washed dishes before being able to use them. The couch, chairs and dining room chairs are FILTHY. We sat on towels. Some of the stains were a little suspicious…so I didn’t want to take any chances. The set up is adorable. Just needs more love and better cleaning services. I would definitely pick the same resort, just another condo though. All in all, we left with happy hearts and just worked around the areas that needed love. Mahalo!

The room looked nice online but there is lots of wear and tear. The beds were hard as rocks and it would have been nice to have an air conditioner. Shower was not cleaned very well and it started to smell moldy after a couple of days.. the cabana pool looked large online but it was so small in real life…Kauai was beautiful so that part was great. Poipu is a good location to start from each day…beach is nice but surf is a little strong

This is our 2nd time staying at Kiahuna Plantation. We love the beach there & the grounds on the property are kept up so nice. Our unit was only a short walk to the beach, so it was worth saving a bit of money with the garden view. The condo was tastefully decorated, well supplied & had some nice sleeping pads for use in addition to the sleeper sofa, so it was easy to accommodate our family of four. I'd recommend this unit to anyone that doesn't require an ocean view.

This is a very nice place to stay, close to a beautiful beach, though you have to walk a little to get there. You can't hear the ocean from there but there is a little traffic noise. They have everything you could want for the beach, including 3 very high quality snorkeling sets. We'd definitely consider staying here again though might splurge and stay closer to the ocean.

Great Location, Incredible Property, Just a few things to be aware of.

The property's location cannot be beat. Walking distance to the best of Poipu, and a short drive to other South Shore attractions. Professionally managed, so there's someone on site if you need anything. Really nothing to complain about, just a few things to be aware of. 1 - the cleaning fee seems to be a flat rate. I booked a short stay (3 nights), so it was a big percentage of the bill. Wouldn't be an issue for longer stays, but it feels like a bit of extortion for shorter trips. Still - I knew this going in and booked anyway so it was not a deal killer for me. 2- The kitchen is well equipped for utensils, plates, cups, bowls, and cookware, but there are no spices / oils. You need to purchase or bring your own if you want to cook anything beyond the basics. Gas grills are located throughout the property and they seemed popular with other guests. 3 - No AC, which is not a problem with the evening winds. However, every single door has slots in it, so there's really no door that can be completely closed. Even the door into the bathroom has slots. Just make sure you're comfortable with whoever you're sharing the unit with. People walking by the front door are able to see into the bedroom if you have the window blinds open. 4 - The bed is on the hard side. Probably fine for some, but I found it uncomfortable as I like a bit more cushion. There were mattress pads in the closet - I think they were for the pull out couch since they were a bit smaller than the bed. All in all, I would stay in this are again, and the unit is as advertised, clean, and spacious. It has a great supply of beach accoutrements (umbrellas, chairs, snorkel gear, etc.) Having access to the Poipu Athletic Center right across the road was a big perk, and there's traffic snorkeling from the beach adjacent to the property. If you can overcome the considerations I outline above, I think you would really enjoy this property. Tip - bring some ice packs and a cooler with you if you can to take stuff down to the beach.
