Quinta La Rabide

Huge garden which is well maintained (a real treat to enjoy), decent travel to Setubal (15 min by car). Friendly hosts. Owner has made a quite thorough guide for the house and garden, so that helps a lot.

The beds were quite hard, the house was a bit damp but this improved quickly (a spring issue, no winter rentals) by airing the house.

The location is unique: within the natural park Parque Natural da Arrábida and only a 10-15 minutes car ride away from the beach. The house has a very nice outside pool, great view, and solitude. The host was friendly and accommodating.

This is more of a basic option for lovers of nature. The location in the wilderness attracts animals. We encountered quite a few (rather big) spiders, centipedes, and woodlice inside the house. Due to its remote location the house is not connected to the public sewage system which means all toilet paper needs to be put in bins and carried outside often. The lower floor of the house has no window which makes it hard to air out, including the kitchen, the living room and the bathroom (walls covered with mold stains). We enjoyed our holiday and as the host was friendly, I was hesitant to write a review containing also critical points. But had we known these issues before, we wouldn't have chosen this location for us, given also the price and that we're traveling with children. So essential points are still missing in the description.
