Anna is a beautiful lady & host. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe both in her home and also in the surrounding areas. My room had a balcony with gorgeous views of the mountains in the distance, I had a massive bathroom too! Anna provides the extra touches that you didn't even know you wanted 😊 the outdoor space is peaceful and relaxing too. I took a nice walk over to azeitao which was 30 mins each way, and taxis are about 5 mins and quite reasonable in price. There's a good bus to sesembra beaches which cost me €2 for a 45 mins journey!! Very cheap in comparison to the UK. I had a wonderful stay with Anna at A Casa do Lagar, I really recommend if you're looking for a nice retreat from busy life.

Not a long drive from Lisbon and perfectly placed for exploring the local wine region and coastline. Ana is a great host and makes you feel very welcome. The homemade marmalade is excellent. The swimming pool is well maintained and very refreshing.
