Beautiful LAKEFRONT home. This home boasts a King Suite as well as four spacious gathering decks and room to spread out. Numerous indoor as well as outdoor living areas including a billiard room. Garage has been converted into a rec room with a ping pong table, foosball, giant jinga, and TV. Enormous sun deck atop a 2 stall boathouse. 2 Kayaks and 2 paddle boards (SUP) included with rental. Inquire with owner regarding rental of 20' pontoon. Sonos sound system. 3 king beds, 2 queens, 1 single, 3 roll-away beds, and 2 pack-n-play cribs. Fully stocked kitchen. Weber gas grill and charcoal grill are available for use. Our cove is nestled back from the traffic flow of the main lake allowing a safe space for children to swim away from boat traffic.

*NEW in 2022- we have just completed a stone fire pit addition to the side of our home.

We would go back again. The host was very prompt with the few questions I asked. The house was in a great location for us. The house does need a deep clean. There have been very few visitors this year due to the storm damage to the lake. There are cobwebs inside and out, along with small dead insects in corners. This needs to be addressed. Overall, we loved our stay!

The pool table and fire pit were great. Owners were very responsive when needed.

Great property, best supplied/equipped I’ve ever seen, multiple living/gathering areas, clean and tidy inside. We were 6 60 golfers that enjoyed the property immensely. The area is still struggling to recover from Helene but Kieth and Ali are on the top of their game! Highly recommend!

This was our second stay at the house and I know we will be back again! The property is in the perfect location on the lake - close to the marina, restaurants, etc., but still tucked away for a serene vibe. We rented the pontoon and it really adds to the lake experience, but you can have so much fun on the water even without it thanks to the paddle boards, kayaks, lily pad and spacious dock. The house is equipped with everything you need for an infant/kids, which made packing so easy. Thank you, Ali and Keith, for creating such a special place!

This was an excellent choice for our family to gather for the week. The house was comfortable for all and well supplied. Lake Lure is a beautiful vacation spot and we loved all the porches and views from each bedroom. We especially enjoyed the times we took the boat out. Ali and Keith were so friendly and responsive to any questions. We would definitely recommend staying at this wonderful home on the lake.

We had a wonderful time with our children and grandchildren. The house was gorgeous and as depicted on VRBO. Plenty of room for all of us and fun for every age. During the day we enjoyed using the pontoon boat or just swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding off the dock. In the evenings we enjoyed playing pool and ping pong or having smores at the firepit. The house is very convenient to Chimney Rock and a number of restaurants. We would definitely rent this property again if we return to Lake Lure.

Great Property, the decks and Sun Rooms are wonderful for relaxation time. Our kids enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. The Chimney Rock area is quite beautiful. The sidewalks do roll up early in town and there are only a few places open after 8pm.

We originally had reservations in Gatlinburg but due to snow and ice we had to cancel. At the last minute we looked for somewhere else to gather and came across Lake Lure. The house and village of Chimney Rock exceeded our expectations!! Our family loved the house on the lake, we will definitely be back.

We had an awesome time at the lake. The views were amazing. It was quiet and relaxing! The house was clean and spacious! Kitchen was well stocked with pans, plates, silverware, etc. The host Ali was quick to respond when we did have a question. We rented this house for our family including our grown children and grandchildren. The house is perfect! It has everything you could possibly need and more! The location on the lake is just beautiful with so much to do! My only complaint is we didn’t get to stay long enough! We definitely plan to come back again!

Idle Speed was a good fit for our family, nice bedrooms and lots of porches and a well-equipped kitchen. Lots of places for people to be together as well as have some quiet time, both indoors and out. As noted by others, it’s important to be aware of the stairs that need to be used to get to and from the lake and the boathouse. Ali was a pleasure to deal with, fast and responsive.

Our stay was fine. There were a few items we expected that were deficient (only 3 dish towels, not enough dish washer soap) but these were resolved by our hosts giving us access to their locked closets. The inside of the house was clean but the outside of most windows had an amazing collection of spider webs which are a bit off putting. The recycle bin at the top of the driveway (Bear proof) is not big enough. When we arrived it was full (waiting for Monday pickup) and there was more in the bin in the garage. After pickup on Monday we filled it up by Wednesday evening and ended up using the garage bin for the rest of the week. The pontoon boat arrangements went well until Friday when we went to the Gas Dock and found it closed. We contacted your boat man and he was very helpful. He filled it on Saturday and sent us a receipt. We reimbursed him through Venmo. He also made a special trip to fix a bolt on the canopy frame that had lost its nut. There were a couple of screws on the kayaks that needed tightening. The owners gave us access to their toolbox so we were able to fix those problems. Overall it went well and we appreciated the support from the owners and the boat man to resolve the problems we did have. Rob Stotz

We loved everything! I think my only complaint would be you can hear everything in the house. And I mean everything. No sleeping late (and I mean past 6:30) with little ones. Also, if you are not in decent shape there are 93 steps to boat deck. Going down is no problem but up can be challenging!

We had an absolute amazing time here! The house itself was great with the well-stocked kitchen, great bedroom layout, and fun things to do like pool and ping pong. And everyone loved the lake amenities - kayaks, paddle boards, floating water mat, and a great deck to sit and play games and just enjoy the lake. Can't wait to come back and spend more time here!

The house was everything we thought it would be...including the 93 steps to the water! Lots of space for everyone. Beds were very comfy. The extra frig/freezers in the game room and in the boathouse were great! The covered decks were perfect for when the rain set in and to enjoy coffee in the AM while everyone else was still asleep. The game room and the pool table and games made the rainy days fun! We rented the boat for the week which was great to have at our disposal from sunup to sundown. Ali was very responsive and easy to communicate with. FYI...there are bears, deer and coyotes in the area. And as someone else said...the steps are no Joke! Think of it as a built in workout! We've been coming to Lake Lure since our kids were toddlers and now they are 21. Another great week at Lake Lure!

Idle Speed was exactly if not better than anticipated. We had ample room for 11 of us and all the amenities plus more than we could have hoped for were provided. Pool table, ping pong, foosball, kayaks, so much to do. This property truly caters to every age level.

This was our second time staying at Idle Speed. Ali is wonderful to work with and quick to respond! The house is perfect for a large family- plenty of room to spread . The garage space with the games and tv for watching football was great- plus the space downstairs with the pool table kept everyone busy. We loved sitting on the large deck and watching the kids kayak, paddle board and skip stones! Our son even got engaged on the deck while we watched from above! We will be back next year!

Total of 8 long-time friends stayed and had a great trip. House is a great hangout spot, and renting the pontoon was easy. We grilled out, played cornhole, fooseball, videogames, and poker out in the garage area. Living room/kitchen area perfect for hanging out and cooking/etc while watching football. Screened porches are great too - a nice place to hang out at night and/or read a book in the morning. The stairs down might be steep for young/older folks, but wasn't much of an issue at all for us. (late 30's) Boat worked perfectly, and as an added bonus, we were close to the marina to refuel! Thanks!

We really loved how easy it was for guests to enjoy the lake with plenty of kayaks, paddle boards, and floats ready to use. Idle speed was the perfect home for our family of 10…4 children ages 5-8 and 6 adults. The house was comfortably decorated, clean, and in a great location situated in a cove, and minutes to the town of lake lure. Ali and Keith were wonderful hosts, readily available when needed.
