About this house rental
Built in 1846 and meticulously renovated in 2009, this historic property – once the oldest Methodist Church on Martha’s Vineyard – is now a stunning vacation home, capturing the ambiance of the Romantic Era through the elegance of exceptional contemporary design.
Set on ¾ of an acre on Lambert’s Cove Road and comprising 2,714 square feet of open-plan living space, the property provides accommodation for up to six people and includes two residential buildings, offering an ideal balance of community and privacy among guests.
The Parsonage is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom house with full kitchen. French doors open out from the living & dining areas onto a rustic granite patio, complete with outdoor lounge seating, barbeque grill, and fire pit.
The Church is a master suite with king-sized bed, kitchenette, and full bath with soaking tub and shower. Historic details have been preserved throughout, including the pressed tin ceiling, wide plank wood floors, and original lighting fixtures. Even the bell in the tower can be rung! (Its tone is C#.)
The Church & Parsonage share an outdoor shower.
Each building has its own wood-burning stove (in addition to radiant heat and air conditioning).
Washer & drier are located in the basement of the Parsonage.
Nestled against the woods in pastoral West Tisbury, a ten-minute drive in either direction will take you into town. To the east: Vineyard Haven – home of the iconic Black Dog Tavern, Martha’s Vineyard Film Center, Cronig’s Market, and Bunch of Grapes Bookstore, as well as the island’s only year-round ferry terminal. To the West: West Tisbury town center – site of the treasured Alley’s General Store, West Tisbury Library, and Grange Hall, where during the season you’ll find the West Tisbury Farmer’s Market and the Vineyard Artisans Festival.
The property is walking-distance to Lambert’s Cove Beach, Ice House Pond, and Uncle Seth's Pond, and is conveniently located to numerous Land Bank and Trustees of Reservations properties, as well as to the gem-of-a-find Polly Hill Arboretum and (in August) the annual Agricultural Fair!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Martha’s Vineyard. The church and parsonage property is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed grilling and the luxurious soaking tub. My only complaint is that the bed in the church is a little uncomfortable, seems like the mattress maybe needs replacing. But everything else about the property was perfect.

We had a lovely stay at the Parsonage/Church. Everything was top notch, plenty of space for a small party (3), everything worked as expected, and the house offers ample room inside and out to just hang out (and work remotely, if need be).We've always loved Lamberts Cove Road through years and this property has a great location and was a super easy 5-7 minute walk to the beach (which is amazing). The owner (Sarah) was very easy to work with, helpful, and responsive to any questions etc. Can't wait to come back again.
