Siltcoos Lake:
The largest lake on the central Oregon coast is also one of the region’s best fishing lakes, especially for warm water fish including largemouth bass.
and is one of the few lakes in Oregon where you can keep a wild coho salmon in season.
Siltcoos Lake is a sprawling 3,164 acres located between Florence and Reedsport in the wonderful dune country of the central coastline.
Siltcoos is one of the most celebrated largemouth bass fisheries in Oregon.
You’ll find tons of good bass cover all over the lake, including fallen trees, drop-offs.
Crappie also hang out around structure and found in shallower water during the spring.
Siltcoos is known to have good populations of less-pursued species including yellow perch, sunfish and bullhead catfish.
Trout are not the primary quarry for anglers here, but the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife does stock a modest number of rainbow trout here. Look for those plantings to take place in late winter or early spring (March and April are good times to check the stocking schedule linked below).
Native cutthroat trout also live in the lake and its tributary streams and may be kept as part of your daily trout limit.
The coho salmon fishery here opens in October and runs through December. Fishing for these fish is usually not productive until significant rainfall draws in these large fish, which most often happens in November.
There are a modest number of coho caught and kept here, but it’s a fairly unique opportunity. Boaters catch most of the adult coho, often by trolling wobbling lures in the creek channels the salmon use to return to their home streams.

Nice upper end home on the lake! Not much more that I can ask for. Carpets are stained, need to take the carpets out and go in with tile and maybe a rug? All the kitchen cabnet door hinges are shot, need replacing. Overall the home was comfortable and well stocked, thanks again for having us!

This is a great house with lake access and dual living spaces. Very nice size homes that we appreciated for our family of 5. The dock out back is the primary reason we picked this house as we brought our paddle boards. The ability to hope on the lake whenever we wanted was priceless. The only cons were that the BBQ electric starter did not work and there was no lighter in the house. We checked in at 4pm with all of our belongings and were prepared to BBQ for dinner. When we realized we couldn’t start the BBQ we called the after hours line and was told someone would bring us a lighter. That never happened. We ended up having to drive into town and pick up pizza that night. On the second day with still no lighter we went into town and bought one so we could use the BBQ for the rest of our meals. The under counter lights in the kitchen do not work and with black countertops it made difficult without that extra light. As mentioned by another reviewer the property could use a deep clean inside and out. The carpets in the upstairs living area are very stained and the cobwebs and bird poop on the deck are evident. I would definitely stay here again and just be better prepared, like bring a lighter! It’s a generous size home and the views and ease of lake access are awesome.

The outside patio, patio furniture, and windows had a LOT of bird poop on them (had to hose it off myself, even then not all came off). Carpets had lots of stains on them. No garbage bags or dish soap on main floor (had to call to get them).View was absolutely gorgeous. Boat dock was wonderful. The interior of the house (except the carpets) was clean.
