About this house rental
Between La Rochelle and Saintes, and 30 minutes from the beaches, your country house will allow you to spend your days by the pool, or relax in your private garden in the peace of the fields and woods, with sometimes the privilege of the spectacle of 'a family of deer passing nearby.
Its central location in the Charente Maritime department will facilitate your visits to Saintes (15 mins), Rochefort (20 mins), La Rochelle and Royan (45 mins) and of course the islands of Oléron (35 mins), Ré and Aix (50mn).
You can taste the specialties of the Region in the numerous gourmet restaurants of the neighboring municipalities.
Your Cottage is ideally situated for hikes or fishing trips on the banks of the Charente (1.5 km).
Your hosts, hardly present on the site, live in the main house of the 18th century of this magnificent domain.
The 6000 m2 of the property and the layout of the buildings guarantee your privacy and tranquility.
A terrace welcomes you with barbecue, dining table and lounge chair in front of your cottage.
You enter the house through the terrace and you are in the living room with open kitchen (4 gas hotplates, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, French and international TV channels, stereo )
behind the living room is the spacious bathroom with toilet. A traditional miller's staircase leads to the bedroom with double bed of 140 (new and quality bedding). your vehicle will be safely parked on the property.

The property is well-kept, in stunning grounds and with a fantastic pool. We were prepared for the "miller's ladder" to the bedroom, and brought our own bedding/towels. As a holiday gite, it was great in all respects but for two things:
the weather was wonderfully hot but if it had been rainy, the 'armchairs' in the living area were not very comfortable if sat more than an hour.
We had noted that in 2023 wifi availability had been queried and the owner wrote on the site page that he was investigating installing wifi. As the property notes for 2024 actually state "internet: available in the house - wifi", we were very disappointed to find that the wifi was still only available by sitting by the pool close to the owner's house. As the temperature was in the high 30s, with a wind (preventing use of the parasol), we were unable to use the wifi other than in the early morning and later evening. This was very frustrating. We experienced a bereavement during the week and our necessary contact with home was curtailed by lack of wifi and the limited 4g reception in the gite.

We waren te gast bij een heel goeie gastheer die heel wat info gaf over de gite en de streek. Het zwembad is top! Vanuit Geay kan je alle kanten uit: richting van de eilanden( o.a. île de Ré en Oleron) , la Rochelle... Maar ook de andere kant uit richting Saintes en Cognac..alsook de prachtige kusten in de buurt van Royan.
In de gîte hadden we alles wat nodig was om een comfortabele vakantieweek door te maken. Ook het grote terrein is een meerwaarde om van de rust te genieten! Dank aan de gastheer voor dit aangename verblijf! Een aanrader!

The Gite is ideal for a visit to the beautiful Charente Maritime region, ideally located between La Rochelle and Bordeaux, plus all the surrounding wine and Cognac growing region. Lovely place for a peaceful gateaway, with everything you need close by. Highly recommended - Most importantly, the host Christian is very welcoming and explained everything to us about the Gite and the region.

Nous avons séjourné du 25/06 au 02/07 nous avons pas eu beaucoup de chance avec le temps mais pour le reste logement au top pour 2 personnes endroit calme même très calme que du bonheur on y retournera merci au proprio pour la gentille attention
