The Old Bull Pen

From the moment we arrived and walked through the gate, I had a feeling this was going to be the perfect getaway. The Old Bull Pen is such a wonderful, peaceful place, surrounded by beautiful countryside, farm animals, and a real sense of harmony. From the outside to the moment you step inside, everything feels welcoming and well cared for. The cottage itself is bright, spacious, and cosy, with so much character. The beautiful, large, low windows were one of my favourite features — waking up and looking out at the peaceful countryside was just lovely. The back room with the snooker table and living area was an added bonus and gave us another lovely space to relax and spend time together. There is so much to enjoy around the property, too. We had a lovely walk around the grounds, with fields where you can walk your dog, a playground area for children, and gorgeous views of the mountains. Seeing the sheep curiously watching us as we walked by just added to the whole countryside experience. There is also a lovely little garden where you can sit with your morning cuppa and simply take in the peace and quiet. It was exactly the kind of place where you can slow down, switch off, and enjoy being together. Our little group genuinely didn't want to leave. The whole stay felt relaxing, comfortable, and special, and we would happily come back again. The Old Bull Pen really does feel like a little escape from everyday life. Thank you! Iga & Simon

All nice and clean, would stay again.

We loved the size of the cottage and the fact it had it's own secure garden so we could let the dogs out safely. (After checking if the peacocks had left the yard!) There are other properties around but we didn't really see anyone (which is perfect for us) There were sheep, chickens and geese in the fields, the location.is great - 5 minute drive to Abergavenny and right on the edge of the Brecons.

Im not an early riser so waking up to the Cockerell at 6am every morning took some getting used to

Location. Spacious. Clean. Modern.

No heating made for an uncomfortable stay. There is a wood burning stove in lounge room with paper and logs. There were no matches or they were well hidden. Someone to contact on arrival would have made things a lot better.
