We booked this cottage for two night booking.com for four people. We loved the look of the rustic charm the cottage had and were drawn to the outdoor patio with a great braai, view and hot tub.
It is in a stunning location that is very quiet and peaceful. The cottage is equipped well for self catering.
However, the description of parts of this cottage is misleading. Whilst there are two bathrooms-toilet and wash basin, both bathrooms are effectively in the same room and are separated by a joint shower. Noise travels obviously when using the toilet and you need to make sure you don’t walk in on each other in the shower! Two doors from either side!
On booking.com there is no mention of the cottage being off the grid. So after booking we got an SMS to tell us it was off grid, with a gas hot water system, solar panel and battery for a fridge and led lights and no plugs. I probably would not of booked this if I had know as we were travelling with elderly parents. The led lights were only on the patio and lounge/kitchen area (led strip lights) and were not very strong. There are no lights in the bedrooms or bathrooms as such-they do provide lanterns but out of the three provided we could only charge one of them.
The hot tub on the patio was disappointment, the water was very brown/green so we didn’t use it!
