Hello we are Justin and Elena, welcome to our home! We bought this property in 2012 and have been working on it ever since. Located in Historic Westside Springfield, IL. Near downtown, Washington Park, historic sites and shopping. Close to everything without being too close to anything.
Hermit's Hideaway is located in the back of our charming(quirky), mostly renovated, 1859 house. There are mosaic tile floors and tile mosaic in the kitchen. Lots of custom touches throughout. Very quiet, cozy and secluded. Sunset views from the living room.
Gorgeous tiered koi pond off the private back deck. In spring and summer endless flowers. We do not use any poisons in the yard, and have created a large butterfly garden and every year we get more and more butterflies! Monarchs are Swallowtails are the most plentiful, but we get a wide variety. In the back yard is our chicken coop, we currently have 10 semi-free ranging chickens in the backyard. 2 cats: Zoro, Mr Z Kitty and Sir Oliver Butterscotch, the Belligerent. We also have 2 65 pound dogs; EmmaJane NaughtyPants and Link Underfoot. They are friendly in your face kind of dogs. We do our best to keep them away from guests, but they are around. This place is an opportunity to stay in a truly unique home, on an acre lot in the middle of the Historic West side. We also own a duplex on the property and have that set up as short term rentals as well. When the weather cooperates the backyard is irresistible. We put in a giant vegetable garden every year. We have pear, peach, cherry and apple trees, as well as strawberries, raspberries and blackberries growing.

Overall, our stay was positive. The apartment was clean and the bed was comfortable. The apartment is colorfully decorated and unique in its decor. The outside area did need some tidying up. Overall good stay.sometidying up while we wea0l

The unit itself was very very nice and clean.
The property itself was awful. Yard full of junk and not well kept at all. Our unit had a small open porch outside our door that you used to walk in to the unit and it was awful. Junk, ashtray with used cigarettes, old tools and anything u could think of and looked like had been like that a long time. The backyard “paradise” was the same way. Unfortunately this rental is not in a nice neighborhood. I’m sad to report this as they appear to be nice people
