Amalfi Blu Retreat

The terrace and terrace view on this property is exceptional. The host was also very helpful with arranging taxis and answering questions, et cetera.

The biggest downside for us was that despite the price we did not have an actual bed in our room. It was a pull out Murphy sofa bed. We were not aware of this before the booking and you cannot tell from the pictures. This made the room itself quite small and the bed did not provide much support because it was a sofa bed not a real bed. We would have liked that to be made clear before we purchased the Room. Also, the description that a beach and town Centre is only 10 minutes away is false. There is a bus stop that is only one minute walk away but that bus takes about 25 minutes to get to town Centre and is not frequent throughout the day or evening so you have to be careful to time. It is walkable but it is a 40 minute walk and it’s not an easy walk. The beach is also a 10 minute walk to steps down to the beach which also take about 30 minutes and is very steep. Again all very manageable and we were able to work around but we would’ve liked to have known about all of these things before we booked the property because we likely would have chosen something much closer and with easier access.

The views from this place were absolutely breath taking. We literally sat on our patio for hours just enjoying the views and atmosphere. Andrea was lovely & very helpful. Bus passes right past the property. little supermarket a short walk up the hill. great restaurants up the hill in pogerola that offer free pick up & return.

nothing we didn't like about the property, more about the area - unless you are willing to drive/scooter it was a little tricky getting around the area. Taxi's are very expensive. Bus was great but we've never caught buses etc and it was a little overwhelming at times. bus drivers weren't very friendly or helpful. Amalfi crowds were crazy, But do not regret coming here, it is just stunning and worth visiting.

The ridicoulous number of whatsapp messages I recieved from the host. We did not see the host in real life, he runs the whole property via WhatsApp, so it seems. He started sending messages before arrival and kept on going during our stay. ‘How will you arrive?’ ‘Please send a message when you’re at the harbour’. ‘This is where you can take the bus’ ‘Please send a message when you’re at the gate’ ‘Are you in the room?’ Etc etc. It kept on going. Message after message… Some messages (for example the location of certain bus stops) were sent 3 times. Pretty soon into our holiday, I asked my wife if she could take over some of the WhatApp conversation with the host. A bit of burden sharing. The constant flow of messages was highly likely well-intended, but had a serious negative impact on our holiday. The host has no interest in, or knowlegde about hiking in the area.
