About this house rental

** Due to the strict Shire regulations, we don't accept any bookings for parties, functions, weddings or events, bucks/hens bookings or schoolies groups. We only rent to families i.e. adults and children or smaller mature groups (we do not accept bookings made up of 9 adults) ** We do not permit pets.

'Barefoot in Blairgowrie' has been stylishly renovated by the new owner and lovingly furnished and now presents as a beautiful, relaxed holiday home.

It is perfect for indoor/outdoor living with the front yard which has been planted out to give you a peaceful space where you could have breakfast in the morning basking in the sun or laze and have a coffee while reading a book. There is an outdoor table, BBQ, wood fired pizza oven (BYO firewood if you'd like to use it) and a herb garden for your use. You will have the feeling of being completely immersed and connected to the natural coastal native landscape of the area. The back yard is where you can relax beside the sparkling solar heated swimming pool which overlooks the national park and listen to the ocean waves rolling in. There's also a hot/cold outdoor shower.

There is cooling that flows throughout the house and ceiling fans in the living room and two of the bedrooms. Whilst this is ideal in summer it is also a perfect winter getaway with heating and a lovely wood fired heater. There are two bathrooms (one of the bathrooms is accessible externally).

The modern kitchen has an island bench to give you more space, a coffee machine and dishwasher and a large dining table with 8 seats. There is free WiFi.

The property backs onto the Blairgowrie back beach and is just 300 metres to the famous Bridgewater Bay Beach and is a great location to base yourself for the many beach walking trails. It is just a 5 minute drive to the Blairgowrie shops and front beach and is a 10 minute drive to the Peninsula Hot Springs and is the perfect gateway to the Peninsula wineries.

BEDROOM LAYOUT - 3 BEDROOMS - SLEEPS 9 PEOPLE

1st bedroom - queen sized bed, BIR, ceiling fan, TV and opens out to the pool.

2nd bedroom - queen sized bed, BIR, ceiling fan

3rd bedroom - 2 single bunks and a trundle bed under one of the bunks (ie sleeps 5), there is a TV and PlayStation 3. This doubles as a kids retreat/rumpus room. This room opens out to the pool.

Please note the solar heater in the pool is turned on during the months of November to April and requires the sun to be effective. The pool has a permanent cover put on it during the winter months while it is really cold.

Bed linen and bath towels are included for all bookings (surcharge applies).

We really enjoyed our stay at Barefoot in Blairgowrie. The location is great being right on the beach and also quiet being at the back beach rather than the peninsula side. The house is very stylish and well laid out and it was great having the pool, which got sun for most of the day, to use for lazy days by the pool or for an early morning swim or to come back to after a few hours out hiking, etc. The house is also well equipped as a holiday home with a well equipped kitchen, bbq, pizza oven, etc. Management/host communication was also very good. We will stay again.

The location and design of this property is beautiful, so secluded, quiet, and beautifully thought out. My children and I loved the pool, the close proximity to the beach and the feeling of being isolated. However, upon arriving at the property the floor across the whole property was filthy, I spent two hours sweeping and hoovering everywhere. I even found nail clippings. There was also towels missing. I contacted the property team and was told that dust etc can blow in and I will just need to sweep up everyday. This is not acceptable, even if this is the case what I found upon arriving was not a daily amount, and in any case the team should make sure that when I arrive the property is in top cleaning shape. I was very disappointed, especially with how this was managed. The property only had one bathroom, a negative for a family, there is no bin in the bathroom which is against property letting rules. I would suggest adding more locks on the doors, the locks on the outside doors are all very flimsy and I didn’t feel particularly comfortable in the evenings. The beds are very uncomfortable, very hard and small, as they are only double beds. The pillows are also very uncomfortable. I really didn’t sleep well for the entire 10 nights. The bedside tables are also a problem, they a block of wood that holds the bedside light only, no room for anything else so if you want a drink or somewhere to pop something down then you will need to use the floor, not ideal, especially with the dusty floors. The icing on the cake for me was the property manager. I left a necklace at the house and asked if they could possibly send it to me back in Melbourne. They said yes and sent it to me: they then asked me for $10.99 after it has been sent, not before to ask for authorisation. They have taken this out my stayz account without me giving the go ahead. I was also incredibly surprised that they missed the opportunity for customer service. I paid $8000 for 10 nights, yet they demand $10.99 to post a necklace. I own a few holiday homes and honestly, this is such a lack in judgement. Due to this I will not be recommending the property to my friends in Melbourne. It is a beautiful property with the opportunity to be amazing go if managed correctly. The owners should have a conversation with the team to establish higher standards.
