The apartment is in a fabulous location, absolutely excellent for exploring Rio. The neighbourhood is great, you’re a quick walk from the beautiful beach, and close to grocery stores. I don’t think you get much better. The building the apartment is in has a lovely pool and is maintained well, the doormen are helpful and it is secure.

Unfortunately, the apartment itself is not well maintained. It feels like a hostel, where everything is slightly broken or rickety and that they tried to fit far too many people into it. It feels poorly looked after: the tv remote was broken, the oven was full of old food, the fridge plastics are broken, most of the chairs are wobbly or not secure. It is a two bedroom apartment, with a lounge, in the photos it has 5 beds. In reality, it has two sofa beds in the lounge - horrible as couches - one double bed in the main bedroom and 3 singles and a double bed in the last room - you can’t move in there! You have to climb over beds to reach the window blinds. It was superficially clean but needs some mold cleaner and someone to care about it. Also, we stayed for 10 nights. We each received one towel, two handtowels and one dishcloth. We did not get any communication at all, not for housekeeping, a change of towels or anything I would expect at this price point and for guests staying for this length of time. I don’t mind cleaning it myself, but when there is nothing to clean with (no mops, no clothes, no detergent) it makes for a less pleasant stay. Also, if you advertise a laundry, I would expect that you give the guests access to it (we needed permission and tokens, none of which we received). So no cleaning, no cleaning supplies, no laundry. Do better! It’s a shame, this apartment could be truly incredible and have truly incredible reviews. I had to buy kitchen utensils, and basics like salt and pepper. Really you could care a little more.
