宿坊 観音院 Temple Hotel Kannonin

It is a special property within the temple grounds; the room/living room/bathroom all well-kitted out. Washing machine and separate dryer is a plus. Clean and functional.

For the price they charge, it did not live up to the experience. Firstly we were provided with a code for self check-in; however when we arrive the doors were already open. Later did we realised whilst there’s a lock to the staying compound, temple staff seems to come freely in and out as there’s one side of the compound used by the temple staff as storage. Only by the end that we realise there’s a separate lock outside our sleeping quarters. But this wasn’t mentioned in the check-in manual so at one point it feels like people can come freely in and out of where we stay. Secondly for the price they charge, it is very much Airbnb style - you will have to even make your own futon bed. Also to note - Kiryu is a small town, don’t expect to be able to get taxis, but the train station is almost 20 mins walk away. Not always easy if you have luggage and in the bright summer sun. It is not all bad, but just that there wasn’t anything special about the “temple stay” (unless you make an effort to join the temple activities) and for the price you can probably get a much better serviced stay. But perhaps there aren’t too many options in Kiryu in the first place.

リフォームされた部屋のセンス良く、衛生的で、快適でした。キッチンも洗濯機もあるので過ごしやすかったです。パスワードの入力だけで入れる点、便利で良かったです。

パスワードを入れる前からドアが半開きになっていて鍵が開いていたので、セキュリティーが気になりました。リフォームされていない部分の部屋については、少し衛生面が気になりました。

とても綺麗で清潔感がありました。 静かでゆったりと過ごすことができました。 洗濯機・乾燥機・食器類など、一通りのものが揃っているので便利でした。
