Good for a hostel.

The hostel was in a nice location.

I don’t like the smell of the hallways to the shared bathrooms and the bathrooms did not have locks. Staff were just ok.

The free sauna and ice-bath were great.

The rooms are very small and compact. Also the rooms had bad lighting and were very dark. The washrooms were not that clean and were average. There is not shoe racks to place footwear, there is not mirror in the room, the space is dry clothes is not enough. The condition of the lockers is bad. The entrance to the hostel isn't great and there is some construction work going on too. The main reason I booked this hostel were for the Muay Thai and boxing classes. Sadly they were closed for 3 days during my stay and I could not attend the Muay Thai class. Also, the hostel had a dull vibe during my stay, I could not meet and talk to people easily. Breakfast is not included and the price of the hostel is on the higher side as well.

The place to hire scooter is with brothers scooters. The scooter was broken and we got locked out for a while too. This isn't a good vendor for scooter.

Disappointing

The beg was very big and comfortable.

My stay was very disappointing. The room was extremely loud due to very poor sound insulation. You could hear everything, from conversations at the pool during the day to constant noise from the women’s toilets and showers located directly above my room. I was told I received a “free upgrade” but in reality I was given a room in the noisiest possible location (even at night). Even if it is a hostel, you should still have a space where you can retreat and get some rest without constant noise, which was definitely not the case here. On top of that, the room had a strong smell of mold and dampness, which made it uncomfortable to stay in. The staff were also not helpful when my very expensive sunglasses went missing in the café/common area. There are surveillance cameras, but they showed no effort at all to check them or seriously look into the matter, even though I asked several times. Overall, I felt uncomfortable during my stay. The staff did not make me feel welcome at all. If you are looking for a relaxing place or to meet people, this is definitely not the right choice. Also very expensive compared to other similar options.

I had an amazing stay at the hostel overall, especially thanks to the great guests, volunteers, and staff I met. However, my experience took a turn due to issues with the security, reception, and one volunteer. I had planned to stay 7 more days—4 days first, then a separate 3-day reservation—both booked through Booking.com. While the 3-day reservation was confirmed and paid for, there was a payment issue with the initial 4 days because I had forgotten my debit cards at the airport in the visa zone. As a result, I could only access money through Western Union. Unfortunately, due to a temporary issue between Turkey and Indonesia, my Western Union transfer was delayed by just one day. Despite explaining this, the staff didn’t allow me an extra day to sort it out. I ended up using FAST, which charged me $13 just to make one transaction. I also noticed a volunteer sitting in a nearby café under the Western Union location—an unusual choice as it's not a popular spot in Canggu—(which means the hostel sent her to check whether I would have the money! I stayed there more than 25 days and I had to show them money in my bank account to the people who cannot even gain money that I gain)while I was struggling to resolve the payment. Additionally, I had to spend over an hour on the phone with a friend to arrange funds to complete the payment. On top of that, the security staff were rude and kept moving my motorbike to a different side of the parking lot without explanation, which added to my frustration and I had to argue with one of them. Although I met wonderful people and had great moments during my stay, these last 2–3 days were unfortunately overshadowed by these unpleasant experiences.

Great hostel, would recommend

Great hostel, with friendly staff and lots of things going on every day. It was a nice mix of social activities and it’s not all centred around drinking. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the air con and wifi were great. Location is good for lots of the things in Canggu and about a 5min walk from the beach.

The walls are pretty thin, and my room happened to be above the gym so you could hear the gym sessions pretty loudly in the morning

Would recommend, great stay

A nice, cosy space away from the busy street. Our room was very spacious and we enjoyed using the pool & bar area. A real highlight was the food. It was affordable and tasty, never causing us any issues. We ate here most meals and would highly recommend. Location was also great. Close to some of the popular places to eat, as well as the beach. Staff were eager to help and kept in direct communication with us when needed via WhatsApp. As first timers in Bali, we’d recommend R&R:)

The wifi in our room wasn’t the best but the staff very kindly offered to help look into this for us. We were not fussed about sorting it/moving but appreciated the offer. Our room wasn’t the most soundproof and the shower did spill out into the bathroom but the positives definitely outweigh these minor issues.

Great hostel to meet people with fantastic vibe and good wifi

Easy to get to and on one of the main areas of Canggu. This hostel was a nice balance between sociable and respectful with a lovely common space and pool for chilling and making new friends, while also being pretty on it with the quiet time after 11pm so that you could sleep. It was the exact balance I was looking for and I met some really solid, great people here that I then travelled with after. The beds are a good size with a nice space for keeping your bags - don't forget to bring a lock with you! - and curtains for privacy. I was in the mixed dorm for 1 week and found it to be a great atmosphere and some good nights sleep. Toilets and showers are also on the dorms floor with lots to go round so no waiting! The wifi was great and could be accessed well in the communal areas. I was working also and found it to be sufficient for general internet usage and zoom calls! So digital nomad approved! The staff were amazing, friendly and bent over backwards to make it an enjoyable experience. Would recommend!

The pros really overway the cons

Well isolated, so no mosquitoes in the rooms. AC as well and good privacy with thick curtains. The hostel was well adapted for Westerners and everyone who stayed there had a social and positive mindset. It was quiet after 23.00 which was quite nice. You could rent a scooter from the hostel for equal prices as scooter rent outs. The hostel was located at the perfect middle point to the beach, clubs, bars and restaurants. Pool area is as amazing as you see in the pictures.

The bathroom and shower facilities were a bit dirty and you really felt like you wanted to were some footwear there. There was not really any place to put your towels and clothes when you showered, which forced you to go there with as little as possible to fit one hook.

My stay at R+R was appalling and there was nothing about the hostel I liked. I would encourage any traveller considering staying here to reconsider.

I had an awful experience and stay at R+R - I have never left a negative review before, but urge all travellers, especially female travellers, not to stay here. 1. I got severe food poisoning from the R+R restaurant food, and was violently ill overnight. I alerted hostel staff that I was feeling unwell and was provided with very little support, having to leave the hostel to find private accommodation in order to recover. There were at least two other travellers on my floor alone who had food poisoning and were up in the night with me. After my stay I got in touch to ask for a refund of the nights I had paid for at R+R that I could not stay because of being unwell - the hostel provided false information to Booking.com and refused the refund. 2. The rooms are pitch black and storage is also pitch black under the bottom bunk, even in the day. It's a great idea for nomads sleeping, but makes it almost impossible to pack or access your things. 3. I expected a decent quality of hostel for the price, but the place was falling apart - handles were falling off doors, toilets and showers were flooding, and when I arrived my bed was unclean. There's so much more I could say, but overall I was appalled by the experience and have been equally appalled by the way they have responded to my case. It was a stark contrast going from this hostel to the (ironically cheaper than R+R!) private hotel room I booked where they were so kind and supportive knowing that I had been so ill. The stay at R+R and the sickness took me out for over a week of my stay in Bali. I hope R+R will learn from this experience and reconsider their approach moving forward. I certainly will not be staying with them again!

Chilled, friendly and very clean!! Very aesthetic.

The hostel is clean, modern. Near the beach. Loved the pool area. Free use of the yoga studio was really good. Beds are really comfy. Toilets and showers were always being cleaned.

Excursions were expensive, cost more than what it costs for the same down the beach with locals.
