Whileaway Lodge, Hot Tub, Wi-Fi

We love the location of Strawberry Fields properties as they are ideally situated for visiting local places of interest to us as a family, plus, we love the Cider Barn! Cheddar is pretty central for everything we like to do while in Somerset, such as Bristol, Wells, Cheddar, Weston, Glastonbury, Longleat and this year venturing to Stonehenge. The Hot tub was a big hit with the teenagers and the playing field next door was great for a game of footy and running all the Cider & pizza off!

Just a little grumble really in that the fridge was not turning down and was freezing everything! We ended up having to throw away a lot of salad and fruit as within hours it was frozen and gone watery. On arrival, the kitchen benches weren’t the cleanest and reading the guest book, there seemed to be some inconsistencies in the welcome packs left for guests. While very much appreciated, the owners could probably save money by sticking to the basics for everyone!

We enjoyed everything at the lodge, it was like home from home with the added luxury of the hot tub. The Cider Barn on the development is lovely, great atmosphere and the drinks and pizza are fabulous. We also loved that the development was dog friendly, we could let our dog off the lead by the orchard and he happily joined us in the Cider Barn.

We thought the decking area and outside seating could do with some attention, weeds coming through the decking and both decking and furniture could do with a re fresh. We also didn’t like having to check an inventory list and pay an extremely over inflated price for any breakages, we come away to relax, not to worry about a glass being broken and being charged a silly amount of money for it. Recycling- we loved the way you provide the bins for this, but don’t put plastic bags in them, we would be happy to wash them out.
