Come take a break at the Umbagog House. Escape the hustle and bustle of your daily schedule and enjoy the rejuvenating feel of the cool, clean water against your skin. Swim in the lake or relax by its crystal clear shores.
At the Umbagog House you will find time to connect with family, time to share stories with friends, and a place to share wine alongside the sunset. This one-of-a-kind lake house has it all, and now your family can enjoy a vacation here.
The home is built with true log construction and it sits on the shores of one of Maine and New Hampshire's most pristine and coveted lakes. Much of the waterfront land surrounding Umbagog Lake is part of the Umbagog National Wildlife Preserve and this provides a stillness and tranquility that more populated lakes cannot offer.
The fish population of Umbabgo Lake is healthy and plentiful and is comprised of landlocked salmon, perch, trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fish from the dock, a boat, or spend a day at the Wildlife Refuge. As you cast into the water and breathe in the serene landscape, you will feel your mind settle and your stress subside.
The snowmobile community is huge here and Upton is a popular destination for riders. Whether you enjoy a day ride on local trails or a multi-day trip around Maine and New Hampshire, there are a variety of trails to choose from. The Umbagog House can be connected to the ITS trail without needing to trailer your sleds- from the yard you can reach local, interstate and Canadian trail networks.
With an open concept floor plan, guests will enjoy views of the lake from every level. The massive living area provides a space for adults to cook and dine, children to play, and friends to gather by the fireplace. A wrap around porch with a screen room allows for outdoor living and entertaining. This house makes it possible to enjoy the great outdoors no matter the activity or the time of day.
There are three large bedrooms and two full bathrooms that are arranged as follows:
On the first floor, the master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, dresser and full closet. There is a his and her bathroom that serves the entire main level.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and dresser, and the second has two double beds that can accommodate up to 4 people. There is also a dresser in the second bedroom and there are closets in both.
The loft area on the second level overlooks the dining area and is furnished with a pull-out couch for extra sleeping capacity.
The lower living space has walk-out doors to the yard and features a separate living room with a T.V.

Snow removal: All our homes are contracted with various snow removal companies in the area. This includes plow service and snow shoveling for decks and harder to reach areas.

If you're seeking a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle, this cabin is a perfect choice. The cabin is modern, spacious, beautifully decorated, and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen has a Keurig machine, toaster, and every kitchen utensil, pot, pan, and dish you would ever need.
The game room in the walk-out basement was super fun. Pool table, Skeech-Ball, bean bag toss, big TV. Walk out to a private, well-maintained hot tub for a relaxing soak.
The cabin's location on the serene Lake Umbagog, with stunning mountain views, is truly idyllic. The lake was quiet and the sunsets were breathtaking.
The property management team was exceptional. They are easily reachable by text and responded immediately to all of my messages. I could not have asked for better service from check-in to check-out. Thank you, Peak Properties of Maine!!
A few things to note: While the cabin's remote location offers peace and quiet, it's important to plan ahead for grocery shopping as the nearest store is about 40 minutes away. Additionally, there's no cell phone service, but the Wi-Fi was reliable. Launching the kayaks was a bit tricky. There is no place to enter from the shore, so you need to lower them from the dock, which is a lot higher than the water level. (The water level may have been due to the extremely dry summer?)
Overall, we had an unforgettable experience at this cabin and can't wait to return for another peaceful getaway!!

We have been staying off and on at this home for over a decade. Our most recent trip was this past weekend (4-nights). The new owners have made some very nice renovations including a nicer waterfront approach (less trees to block the view of the water), a nice big lawn and fire pit facing the water. On the inside the lower level is now a rec room with pool table, wall toss bean bag game, and a variation of shuffle board called Skeetch - lots of fun, along with a Pac Man video arcade-stye game. Just outside (facing the water is a 4-person hot tub. Parking on the non-water side is much improved for more vehicle parking. We will stay here again for sure.
