Varandas do Nabão

We had a great stay at Varandas do Nabão. The location is excellent, right at the entrance to the city centre and overlooking the main roundabout, so everything is within easy walking distance. The river, restaurants and main sights are all just a few steps away. Despite being so central, the property was surprisingly quiet, which made it very comfortable for sleeping and relaxing after a day out. The apartment was also very well equipped, with pretty much all the appliances and amenities you would expect to have in a normal home. That made the stay feel much easier and more comfortable, especially for anything beyond a very short visit. The air conditioning was also a huge plus, especially with the hot weather. It would honestly have been very difficult without it! Overall, a very convenient, comfortable and well-equipped place to stay, particularly if you want to be right in the centre while still having a peaceful base.

The location was good for easy access to the town. The accommodation was pleasant to look at.

The TV didn't work (not great when staying with kids, both for them to have a little down time and for us once the kids had gone to bed). There was only a sofa for two/three people so we couldn't all sit together comfortably. The plastic coated mattress protector made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. The windows aren't sufficient to keep the road noise out so we were all disturbed many times throughout the night. Only one out of four of us had a bedside table. Not ideal if you want to keep a glass of water/ reading glasses/ book next to you!
