Great place for big groups.. ideally for if have teenagers to young adults as can have their own space downstairs, and parents upstairs. It Needs some updating and maintenance and in the winter not sure how warm it would be.. but we had a lovely weekend and enjoyed our stay

Place is perfect if you have kids it's comfortable and can relax. There was only 1 tea towel and the shower needs fixing. Overall enjoyed our stay great for family get togethers.

Great place to stay for a large group or family. If you are wanting 5-star accommodation, then stay somewhere else. If you are wanting a large clean place to stay with character, then you have found the right one.
Very close to the Marina and park area (5min drive) to take young kids to play safely by the lake front or have a game of cricket on the reserve. Not far to Turangi to use the Hot Pools and go shopping at the supermarket. Only an hour away to visit the Army museum in Waiouru to have some fun.
There is a petrol station right across the road to stock up on fresh milk etc, and they do Fish and chips and burgers etc.
The Property is on the main road (Highway one) so is a bit noisy with trucks etc through the night, but you cannot do anything about that. If you have very young children in your group, you will have to keep an eye on them while outside. The property does say it is fenced but it is small and easy for young children to climb over.
Upstairs Shower unfortunatly dosn't work and very little shower pressure downstairs. Most tolet and bathroom doors don't have locks same with bedrooms. So ok for families but maybe not so much for large groups travelling together sharing a place to stay.
But all in all, a great place to spend with your family with lots of beds and rooms to play or relax.

Really great house for a big group. Lots of space and different areas to hang out. BUT there were a few FLAWS though which lowered my rating a lot. When hiring a house you expect the all the basics to function...
Sadly it was only after we arrived we found out the bbq couldn't be used (and we had bought food to cook on the bbq, plus it's hard to cook for large groups with only a oven!), And that the upstairs shower head was broken... Basically unusable.
Then we discovered the upstairs bathroom door couldn't even be shut!
So just be sure you know what your getting when you hire the place.
Hopefully the listing gets updated to reflect the house and it's amenities.
