We had the unique experience of staying in a historic house that felt like a medieval castle, right next to the city’s most iconic landmark – the Cathedral of San Martino. The atmosphere was absolutely magical, it truly felt like living inside history – something we will never forget. Everything was very clean and well organized. We were warmly welcomed by the representatives of Smart, including a very kind lady who even helped us park and explained everything in detail. The location is unbeatable, the experience was authentic and memorable, and we are already planning to come back. We highly recommend it to everyone looking for a truly special stay in Lucca!

Unforgettable medieval dream in the walled city of Lucca

This place really set the stage for our visit to Lucca, located immediately adjacent to the cathedral in the former bell-ringer's quarters. The 4-story house is a restored medieval building with very modern facilities, extensive lighting and stylish bathrooms. Every effort made to preserve the medieval character of the building including furnishings and a massive wood dining table. Compact highly functional kitchen with hidden appliances. Fantastic central location within the city walls yet extremely quiet location in an enclosed traffic-free square. A little hard to find at first: walk up onto the three-arch portico of the cathedral, then turn right. This will lead to the private square. Look right to see the front of Casa del Campanaro.

Be prepared for stair climbing -- the three large bedrooms occupy the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors respectively.

The best stay in Lucca in a stunning property with excellent support from the housekeeper Giulia

Roberto was such an efficient host and Giulia is simply the best housekeeper!! Such a sweet and kind lady - she helped us with all sorts of requests re kitchen utensils and taxi and lent us toys for our son! A fantastic experience - thank you Giulia!

Everything was great, just need a couple of kitchen knives, a plastic chopping board and a dustpan and brush :-)
