The location and host were amazing.

We lived it all

My wife, daughter, and I had an exceptional stay at Avista Suites - and I have to say, this was quite a special experience for us. First the location was excellent - the view was 10 out of 10, beautiful sunsets every day, and very easy to walk to many great restaurants. We were about a mile from the main area of Fira and not far from Oui. We also felt like we had plenty of room in the suite, and the fact that we also had a rooftop deck and hot tub was huge. I would also add that the owner, Lampros, was an incredibly gracious and attentive host. He was always available if we had questions or needed anything, he booked reservations at the best restaurants for us, and he arranged for taxi's when needed. He also oversaw our daily breakfast - so every day, we had Greek omelettes and yogurt, fruit, toast, juice, coffee, etc. - a full breakfast - on our patio. I'd also say that Lampros is just a really great person - HIS attentiveness made it an even better trip for us. We would not hesitate to book at this location again. We were very sad to leave.

The 2-bedroom room was very clean, modern and spacious. The upstairs room has a low ceiling so could be a challenge for taller individuals as well as the stairs could be an issue for those less mobile. We enjoyed the rooftop sitting area, hot tub and amazing caldera views. Owner/host Lampros went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and his willingness to answer emails, offer suggestions and arrange transportation and reservations was exceptional. Breakfast was high quality and we enjoyed eating outside at a table in our front area. Skaros Rock was nearby and we enjoyed exploring.

This is more a Santorini issue regarding the island being a C shape. Everything we did required a taxi which was either 35E each way to other parts of the island (winery near Oia or restaurant in Exo Gonia) or 50E for pick up from port and for drop off to airport. We opted to not rent a car for our 2-night stay and I am glad we did not as driving is touch with the hills, crowds, and narrow winding roads. I also opted to not stay in Oia as I thought it would be too busy.

The host Lampros was exceptional in his generosity and kindness. He greeted us on arrival with roses in our room. On the second night he left us a bowl of fresh fruit. The morning breakfasts were wonderful and tailor made to each of our tastes. We loved all his recommendations for local restaurants and activities that were off the beaten (touristy) path.
