We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Durham Ox. The lady that met us when we arrived was really pleasant, she seemed to be there all the time. The room was impressive, much bigger than we expected, very comfortable and lots of space. The breakfast service was great. We ate there both nights of our stay and enjoyed our meals, the starters of the scallops and the garlic mushrooms were ok, but the oysters and prawn cocktail were beautiful. We had beef, stonebass and venison over the two nights for our mains, all lovely. A little disappointing having enjoyed our mains that we were served the rind off the brie on our cheese board (literally the rind, no brie) we did raise this and were promptly bought some brie. We had the Grand Finale for dessert the second night - wow what a way to finish a meal :) Would we return? definitely! and hope to soon.
We enjoyed our visit overall and would recommend to anyone.

Nearly everything.
I found the choice of music a little dull. Mind you, that is my personal taste. I would have preferred some classical music, also rock ‘n’ roll, Latin, folk. This was a bit elevator.And it was a bit too loud for my taste.

Everything was excellent, from the moment we checked in to checking out. The food was outstanding during our stay.
