Gästehaus Benediktinerstift Göttweig - Bed & Breakfast Monastery

Starting with the location it is absolutely breathtaking. High upon the hilltop overlooking the region along the Danube. It is like being in a hot air balloon. The monastery complex is majestic and absolutely beautiful. For those that have seen the Melk Abbey, this is just as magnificent, only with a fraction of the visitors. Our room was simple and without any frills, as we expected and wanted. Very quiet after the daytime visitors have left and no TVs in any rooms. Everything is spotlessly clean and the breakfast ample and it was memorable sitting out on the terrace.

There as nothing not to like.

Very tasty breakfast with moderate choice, but everything very fresh , very tasty coffe. Nice attentive service with a nice conversation of one of the Fathers . But we came there for luxury of peaceful and wonderful quietness place , encouraging for prayer, participation in Corpus Christi celebration. This Benedictian Abbey has the same peaceful atmosphere like in Benedictian Abbey in Tyniec closed to Cracov in Poland. Thank you ! We will come back to spend more time on place. Even 50 min walk 200m up from the train station was wonderful ,like a purification during pilgrimage , a chance to contact with nature after rain,the birds , the smell of lime tree , the hay ... And such a divine view on Wachau Valley !

Nothing . This place is more difficult to get without a car but for me is a very positive side .

Tasty breakfast, healthy options Peaceful surroundings

The setting is in a historical building and it is fantastic. The room is simple but tastefully decorated and super clean. The view is amazing.

It is on the expensive end considering what I have paid. There is no water boiler, coffee or tea in the room. Basically one just sleeps in there.
