Disappointing Stay – Extensive Building Works and Poor Maintenance
Good location only a 100m from the harbour, parking space close by but it is quite small and if the car park is full then access in to and out of it could be tricky.
Unfortunately, our stay at this property was far from relaxing. Be aware that extensive building works are ongoing at the property immediately behind. We were woken at 08:00 most mornings by the sound of heavy concrete breakers, disc cutters, impact drivers, and drilling, which continued until around 16:45. This has apparently been known to the property owner since October last year, and it seems there are many more months of work ahead (read the small print in the listing).
Beyond the noise, the property itself is in a very tired condition. The front gate was rotten and barely attached to its hinges, and the wooden front door was swollen, making it difficult to open or close due to overflowing gutters. The décor is outdated and cluttered with ornaments and lamps as mentioned in other reviews, and the kitchen is extremely small.
Another issue was that the television not working, which we were informed of on the morning of arrival. However, this seems to have been an ongoing problem for over a year (look at other reviews), and despite multiple attempts to contact the property owner—chasing four times over a week—we received no response.
To top it off, the heating and hot water boiler broke down on our last evening, displaying an F.75 error. We reported this on the morning of our departure, but given the lack of response to previous issues, we’re not confident in a prompt resolution.
Overall, this property was a huge disappointment. The owner has clearly been aware of multiple ongoing issues for some time yet has not taken appropriate action. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering staying here.
