Kenrokutei Oyado

A charming oasis in stunning Japanese Ryokan style. Our host was helpful and friendly and the house was fantastic with everything we needed. The showers and bath in particular were top notch. The attention to detail - like the umbrella stand full of umbrellas, was superb. Tons of useful information about the area in the property too.

That we had to leave!

Everything about our stay was special. This is a traditional house near the gardens and the castle. The owner and his father were so kind and lovely. They truly went above and beyond to help us. If we get to Kanazawa again I would want to stay here. You really get a taste for something other than the hotel life when you book here.

Really there was nothing we didn’t like.

A beautiful traditional accommodation option.

The property is a beautifully preserved traditional japanese house.

The property is terribly cold. There are two kerosene small heaters that automatically stop and the host does not give you advance notice for this. The remaining aircons don’t suffice as Kanazawa is cold and the walls are almost frozen. The worst experience is going to the bathroom/shower. None of them are heated at all. When we let the host know he dismissed me and he said he stayed there with his family and it was warm enough for them. We ended up booking another hotel at 10pm and staying there for the rest of the trip. If you can handle this, it’s a beautiful place, but definitely not comfortable at all.
