Kenrokutei Oyado

Everything about our stay was special. This is a traditional house near the gardens and the castle. The owner and his father were so kind and lovely. They truly went above and beyond to help us. If we get to Kanazawa again I would want to stay here. You really get a taste for something other than the hotel life when you book here.

Really there was nothing we didn’t like.

A beautiful traditional accommodation option.

The property was a beautiful, traditional house with plenty of room. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the futons were as well. It was very clean and the facilities were fantastic, with beautiful bathrooms and a spa. It was in a great location and only a short walk to places of interest and restaurants. We were there in winter so when you were outside the rooms where there are heaters it was cold, but the heaters made the living room and bedrooms very cozy. A lovely stay in beautiful Kanazawa.

The property is a beautifully preserved traditional japanese house.

The property is terribly cold. There are two kerosene small heaters that automatically stop and the host does not give you advance notice for this. The remaining aircons don’t suffice as Kanazawa is cold and the walls are almost frozen. The worst experience is going to the bathroom/shower. None of them are heated at all. When we let the host know he dismissed me and he said he stayed there with his family and it was warm enough for them. We ended up booking another hotel at 10pm and staying there for the rest of the trip. If you can handle this, it’s a beautiful place, but definitely not comfortable at all.
