Cabañas Armonía y Jardín de Orquídeas

Tatiana spoke English—the only staff member who communicated well in English—and she was very nice and accommodating. They allowed me to check in early and gave me a spacious room with 3 beds and with a private bathroom. The room had a lovely view of the greenery. I also liked being downstairs. The property has hummingbird feeders, so there is a lot of activity throughout the day, and I also saw tanagers. They packed my breakfast in containers I provided so I could eat it later, which was very helpful since I was out birdwatching early in the morning. I was also able to store my food in their refrigerator and use the microwave in the staff's kitchen to make tea. There are tiny orchids around the rooms and property. They are very different from the large, showy orchids I am used to seeing in Florida, but they were lovely to discover.

The biggest problem was the noise on Saturday night. Guests staying upstairs kept going up and down the stairs, opening and closing doors, turning lights on, talking loudly, and showering well past midnight—until around 2 AM. Since many guests leave early for birdwatching, I think the property should enforce quiet hours after 11 PM. Most of the staff do not speak English, which made communication challenging and sometimes resulted in misunderstandings. The property is also a bit of a walk from the bus station. The women's bathroom near the breakfast area did not look particularly nice, although fortunately my room was nearby and had its own bathroom. I stayed two days at Armonia and then later - two days at Yellow House. If the prices were similar, I would much rather stay at Yellow House because of its convenient location near the bus station, private kitchen, hammock to relax, nicer breakfast area, and access to its large, beautiful property with trails.
