    Nice hotel, friendly and very helpful staff and location was just perfect, literally right across from the train station! With a Family Mart at ground level and Don Quiote across the road too!

    Friendly staff. good selection of free amenities to get from the lobby. WiFi can’t connect to the internet. Security is a concern because there’s no password set. Room door locks with traditional key. Even after locking, the door could slightly open about 1cm. If you’re in, you could double lock it with the latch but that’s not possible when you’re outside. Japan is safe but never 100% so that’s a concern. No big issue but the water tap is too long for the bathroom basin. Water gets all over the floor.

    The hotel’s location is perfect — directly in front of Nagano Station and very close to restaurants, convenience stores, and the bus station, which made getting around very convenient. The hotel itself is quite old, but they do offer some nice complimentary amenities such as a massage chair, free soba (which was delicious), coffee, and juice. They also have a shampoo and conditioner bar along with different basic essentials for guests. The staff were punctual and polite during our stay. However, there were several major downsides that completely ruined the experience for me. First, the escalator leading to the hotel entrance has apparently been broken for years based on previous reviews. The hotel entrance is elevated and requires climbing stairs, which is very inconvenient for guests carrying heavy luggage. The biggest issue — and honestly the deal breaker — was the air conditioning system. During my stay in spring, the temperature in Nagano was already around 22°C, but the hotel still had the centralized air conditioning set to heater mode only. I asked multiple times if they could switch it to cooling mode, but the staff always said no and only provided a very small electric fan. The room became unbearably hot. I had difficulty sleeping for all 3 nights of my stay. At one point, I almost tried leaving the fridge open and directing the fan toward the freezer just to cool the room, but even that did not help because the room temperature was still too warm. It was impossible to properly rest, even during midday. Unfortunately, this became my worst hotel experience in Japan, and I will not be coming back.
