Solea Palm Resort Mactan

I liked the variety of the breakfast buffet....so much good foods! The rooms were good sized and beds were comfortable. The fitness gyms are nice and most staffs are friendly and welcoming.

We booked one overnight stay and decided to utilize the use of inflatable rides on the 2nd day, however, it was under cleaning or maintenance. We were not informed! We could've used them the day we arrived. This was one reason we booked the place so our big children can enjoy but they never did. We also saw rats at the Salt & Sky Rooftop Lounge. The pool water were not very clean as they were always crowded...hall floors are always wet. Due to remoteness of the location, you can't find a descent restaurant or fast food nearby so you have to order from the hotel.

The property had excellent opportunities for Resort like fun. I love the wide range and variety and quality of foods to choose from. And the front desk staff were all Professionals!!!!

I didn't like how we were not explained how the room cleaning should take place, engaging the "clean the room" button, until one week into my stay.

1. Facilities are not perfectly maintained so feel starting ruined 2. 2000 pesos of damage deposit per day required 3. Access road is not considered well not connected smooth to others. Gap lots. 4. Private beach is quite poor, need improve 5. There is no shuttle between the airport, an isolated area to go outside

Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Hotel rooms (we got poolside with sea views) were a fair size. We did ask for a double bed but got a room with two double beds pushed together. This was not a problem since my husband and I just pushed it apart and just used one bed. Staff was very very well trained. There were also lots of pools for kids. Even a waterpark. Take time to eat at the grill restaurant beside the waterpark. Food is fresh and quality high.

Furnishings and fixtures in common areas were clearly worn and looked tired. We were initially unhappy because we wanted a more relaxed resort vibe but once we accepted that this was a family resort (tons of Korean, Chinese, Japanese and local families), we were fine. Heads up, conversations in corridors carry loudly into your room! The beach was also a bit of a disappointment. This was an artificial dolomite beach with a steep incline so not really good for kids and swimming in general. There were also lots of flies specially in the main dining area. Doesn´t bode well for cleanliness.
