Gorgeous quirky ancient property with lots of lovely antique furniture and art. Very friendly host.

We loved the ancient building and the quirkiness that it brought. Sebastien the host was charming and most helpful. Good breakfast.

Access to the bathroom was very steep and a little scary if you had mobility issues. Luckily there was a downstairs loo to use during the night.

A stay we’ll never forget and will return.

Beautiful, romantic setting with interesting history. Our rooms were a joy. Great location for exploring Loire, and in a small town. Sebastian was an excellent host.

Bath water not very hot, but a minor issue. It’s a very old property.

Very interesting seeing the medieval grounds and extensive art collection.

The amazing artwork and sculptures collected by the owner, the large moat, history of the place and the accessibility of our host.

Les Douves is a unique and beautiful property. The rooms have a historical feeling with exposed beams and are filled with sculptures and art. The weather was fine and we were able to eat delicious breakfasts outside near the water. The owner, Sebastien, was welcoming and gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants nearby. We recommend Les Douves to anyone visiting the Chateau area and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Very kind and helpful owner. Quite area, nice breakfast on the terrace. Big rooms, great for kids (playing with the ducks)

From the picture you can think it's a big castle but it's not. It's more of an old two floors house surrounded with water. But once you get used to it, very nice.

Wonderful weekend

We had wonderful days. An oasis of calm. We felt connected to nature since you are literally sleeping on an island and everything is idyllic.

The host Family was very friendly and welcomed us warmly. It was also funny to discover artistic works there when you are not expecting it (like opening the cupboard and finding paintings). We highly recommend this place for a stay,you will love it.

We loved our stay 🤩

The castle was very beautiful and well cured. Our room was cozy and very big. The landscape was breathtaking, we couldn’t leave because we were to amazed by the little island where we were staying. The owners were very friendly and available for all our needs. We highly recommend this structure 👍👍

Fantastic Ambiance. Perfect Location!

It has a moat! Cool history, quiet and peaceful getaway. The location couldn’t be better for a week of Chateau visiting and wine tasting. Couldn’t be more pleased with our stay!

So feudal haben Sie noch nicht oft gewohnt!

Sehr individuelle Unterkunft in traumhafter Lage. Herzlicher Empfang. Man fühlt sich ein bisschen wie ein Schlossherr. Unsere Suite war riesig und hätte auch 4-5 Personen Platz geboten. Fantastische Aussicht auf Garten und Wasser, das die "Burg" umgibt. Es gibt sogar einen kleinen privaten Sandstrand. Privatparkplatz unter Kastanien (man muss danach fragen). Schlichtes, aber sehr gutes Frühstück mit Baguette, Croissant, Butter, Marmeladen, Orangensaft, Kaffe/Tee, Milch. In den Ort sind es nur wenige Schritte.

Die Heizung war aus, aber Elektroheizkörper taten ihre Pflicht. Im Bad war leider keiner. Das Bad ist sowieso etwas in die Jahre gekommen - mit Schulnoten würde ich sagen: befriedigend. Da ich mich nicht zu den vieux grincheux zähle, gibt's nichts mehr zu beanstanden.

Omgeving

De torenkamer beantwoordt niet aan basishygiëne. Het is er overgedecoreerd en daardoor vuil. Er staat een stoffen 3-zitszetel naast het toilet (zie foto). De bedden zijn oud en niet proper. Onmogelijk om de kamer 's avonds te verluchten (geen vliegenraam) en er is geen waaier voorzien voor zomerse temperaturen. Ontbijt komt niet overeen met foto's. Drie keer brood, croissant en confituur, naast vuile glazen.

Mycket trevlig värd och fantastiskt charmigt hus och omgivning. Helt klart värt ett besök vid genomresa.

Toaletten i badrummet funkade inte. Frukosten var mycket enkel

C’est un havre de paix et de verdure. Tous les coins du jardin sont une découverte entre œuvre artistique et les (détails qui tuent) Chambre familiale sublime. Chaque son espace tout en étant ensemble. Acceuil bienveillants et attentifs. Duke est un mascot au top des mascots.

très belle endroit atypique au milieu de ses douves. cadre très agréable. notre hôte était très sympathique, la chambre agréable. endroit très calme, idéalement situé entre Amboise et Blois. mérité de s'y arrêter.

Emplacement sublime, jardin et propriété magnifiques. Chambre atypique et pleine de charme ! Le petit déjeuner était délicieux et servi dehors, un moment hors du temps ! Hote aux petits soins !

Un emplacement rare, une atmosphère hors du temps. Un site atypique et charmant, pour les amoureux des vieilles pierres. Sébastien est un hôte discret et empreint de bienveillance. Très bon petit-déjeuner continental (le pain est excellent).

Un lieu original et beau. Une étape inattendue.

Une maison pleine de charme, très originale, entourée de douves, où se tenait un château autrefois, avec un jardin potager et des animaux de ferme. Le maître des lieux (il n'y a pas d'autre mot), amoureux des arts, reçoit très gentiment et n'est pas avare d'explications et d'histoires sur le lieu. Nous avons été surclassés dans la suite, spacieuse et confortable, dans le style rustique et beau de la maison (poutres apparentes,...)

Le prix est un peu élevé par rapport à la prestation.
