For us, it’s a dog-friendly, halfway stopover on our journeys from south to north UK. Accommodation is in the converted stables (?) at the back of this traditional village inn.
Fairly priced for what you get. Beds are comfy. Overhead lighting is dim but bedside lamps are bright. The bathroom fans go into quiet mode overnight, which is a great feature. Electric wall heaters, so you can control the temperature in your room. Theres a kettle in the rooms with a selection of tea and instant coffee, and there’s also a tv.
The pub is welcoming and has a good selection of drinks and food, for good prices (eg bottle of wine £16.50). There’s a heated covered patio area, and also a fenced beer garden (about 1m height so secure for small dogs)

Worked well as a stop off for one night. Close to A1 but in a quiet village. Ground floor rooms across the car park from the pub were clean and functional. Some very good ground coffee on hospitality tray and plenty of hot water. Had an evening meal in the pub, which was freshly cooked and tasty. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful.
