Staff were good
Carpet looked filthy , bed mattress poor , I felt the springs . Skirting so filthy , light switch dodgy .
3.0 / 10.0
The room was generally clean and spacious. Staff were friendly but I think overall overworked.
When I arrived there was no hot water in my room. I went to reception and was told that they had just turned on the water heater. I didn't mind waiting for an hour for the water to get hot but I just don't think that a hotel like this I should expect to not have hot water.
At dinner, there was a long queue of people waiting to give their food orders at the bar and there was only one member of staff working. I ordered venison for dinner which was £30. Given the location I.e outside of a major city, for £30 I was expecting quite a lot. It took 40 minutes to prepare. When it arrived, there were four small pieces of meat, a couple of scoops of mashed potato and half a carrot roasted. Not much really for £30. A pint of beer cost £7, a lot for this part of the country.
£10 for a breakfast buffet is cheap but it was nothing special and the coffee machine wasn't working.

The property has the potential to be really nice but decoration in the hotel and rooms are very dated and felt more like a retirement setting the staff were great breakfast was great pool was great
Just that it’s very dated

The health spa was excellent for a birthday relax on a Friday evening as was quiet.
The room was large and the bathroom was clean,
We ate in the bar and the food was good.
The mattress was old and we rolled together
8.0 / 10.0
Radiator and a wall mounted heater in the room so temperature wasn't an issue
Bed was comfy.
The bath was large and filled very fast.
Room had all the basics.
Entrance feels more modern and Higher end.
Felt it was a decent room for what we paid and would stay again if in the area.
Only food available was the in room pizza deal (1 pizza and 2 cans for £20).
No local takeaways/ nearby food app deliveries.
Rooms are starting to show age so will need refurb in the next year or so.
The all in one shampoo, bodywash, handsoap... I prefer separates.
Wasn't a plug on both sides of the bed.
Room was over a service area- not sure if it was a heating or cleaning system but it was noisy.

Large quite remote Hotel. Facilities acceptable. Check in very good.
Our room was almost bizarre. A loft conversion. Only ceiling lights, no bedside lights. Very plain. Lots of blank walls. Stains on bathroom floor and bedroom carpet. Paint damage. Not what we’d expected and very much overpriced.

The reception staff were great, very accommodating to my needs as I had injured my ankle the day before arrival so ensured I had a room on the ground floor. The room was lovely, the best I have stayed in.
Spa area lovely, pool could be a little warmer but ok once you are in it.
James who works on the Bar was good to talk to and very professional. Also offered to bring my drinks to the table. 5star all round.
Nothing at all.

Large comfortable room though the furniture is looking tired and worn. Why does the TV in every room we stay in need setting up wherever we go?
The fire safety light above the door, which is supposed to stay on even if the power is cut off, decided to flash bright white intermittently during the night. At 2.25 am I stood on a table and taped the key holder over the light and discovered marks in the paintwork suggesting I was not the first to have to do this.

The location . Very good breakfast, the pool , sauna etc are very good .
It is starting to look tried . Needs new carpets in the dining room. Needs new seating in the bar , looking dirty and tired . The room which we were in needed a new window, wouldn’t fasten properly.

The breakfast was good and all the food we had was delicious and the spa was good during the day the staff at reception where very helpful and forth coming.
The menu for dinner was very limited when we called they said that the bar menu would be the same as the restaurant menu and it was not and very limited the first night by 7:30 there was only burger or gammon left for the rest of the night.

Bed was comfy area was good
The whole place looks tired. I asked for 2 separate beds and the hotel even rang and asked me again the day before if this was correct. Said it was and still only got one bed. Carpet in the room worn, tired with holes in it. Breakfast very disappointed poor quality and not much choice.
The whole place just looks tired. The two small lamps in our room were so dim candles would have been brighter

The hotel, spa and food was excellent
Disappointed wasn’t told restaurant was closed at the time of booking (was recommended to book table)
Concerned about how temperamental the lift was being disabled and reliant on it as can’t do stairs, the staff were excellent in fixing it each time though

Loved the food and spa facilities ,dinning area was amazing.staff really friendly.
Didnt realise it was a dog frendly hotel until we saw a dog being taken into a room and heared the barking .if we had been given a choice we would have stayed in a room away from dogs as we dont have dogs and found the barking stressful not relaxing .

Took my mum for a spa break for her 70th birthday and the hotel was definitely not up to standard, rooms where dirty, old and ours had a broken radiator that wouldn’t turn off, one of the rooms for 4 people also only had 3 beds, and the room my mum was in had a make shift dressing tables as the previous one had apparently been set on fire by a guest and they didn’t have a new one.
The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly especially the manager she did her best to make the situation better for us and did offer a partial refund the next day, the biggest issue was the spa we had to spend some time at reception sorting this out so didn’t get to the spa until 10.50am where we were met by a receptionist called Abbey who was a vile human put nicely! with no customer service skills or consideration for anyone, she refused us access unless we each paid £10 even though we got the spa package in with the room, she said on our confirmation email it stated we had to be in before 11am it was 10.50am? we showed her our confirmation that said nothing of the sort, we explained it was my mums 70th and we where already late due to problems with the room but she would not let us in, even though the hotel manager came down and confirmed the situation to her, her colleague, (also on reception)told us there was no reason why we couldn’t go in and she would happily let us in if she wasn’t there, and she doesn’t know why she wouldn’t as she was just a receptionist not a manager, we challenged her authority and asked for the spa manager as now my niece was crying and she blatantly said she wasn’t letting us in and went into the back room, we got the manager to go in and speak to her and to our surprise and discuss she came out and told us Abby said she couldn’t let us or our 70 year old mum in because we had threatened her and she didn’t feel safe and she wanted us to leave, luckily the other girl was with her the whole time and confirmed we had done nothing of the sort.

Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and did their best. The facilities look to be good and the car park is large and easy to use. It was good value for money. I had dinner in the bar and this was filling and tasty.
They were understaffed for the large group in for a special weekend plus other guests. However staff made every effort to provide good service.
Reception could do with a bell as reception staff couldn't see if anyone was waiting at the desk from their adjoining office, Ths led to long waits and already busy staff in the bar getting called on to check people in.
The bar menu needs to be clearer on what food is available when. There were issues for some guests who ordered sandwiches at the bar and were kept waiting for a long time before they were told that the chef didn't do sandwiches in the evening.

The staff were very pleasant
Unfortunately, after a long day viewing houses we arrived and went to the room!
The heating on the radiator thermostat was at No. 5 and the room was far too hot. These thermostats should be set at No. 2. This must be costing your hotel thousands of pounds each year.
The curtains were hanging off the rail and ripped.
The bathroom was terrible.
The bath panel is split and broken.
The toilet seat was broken
The mirror is showing signs of age.
The mound around the tap end of the bath and shower screen was disgraceful. This mould is very dangerous and can cause numerous health problems.
Allergic reactions: Symptoms can include sneezing, a runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin rashes.
Respiratory problems: Mould can trigger asthma attacks, cause coughing, wheezing, and breathlessness, and lead to conditions like bronchitis.
Irritation: It can irritate the nasal passages, throat, eyes, and skin.
More serious effects: Inhaling mould spores can lead to more serious illness. The mycotoxins from some types of mould can have severe effects and, in extreme cases, be fatal.
Vulnerable populations: Children, the elderly, and individuals with existing respiratory illnesses, allergies, or a weakened immune system are at a higher risk for severe reactions.
The extractor fan does not work.
The old fittings should be repaired and covered correctly.
There has been a leak under the radiator.
The dirt at the back of the toilet was very off putting.
Coffee? stains on the bathroom wall.
Our neighbour in room 107 decided to run a bath at 5.30am - we sat and listened to him performing is ablutions for over an hour. You need to have more sound proofing in your hotel!
If your housekeeping staff need any more advice please contact me.
I know you are only 3 star but basic hygiene should not be too much to expect.

Bar area was nice.
Waiting 50 minutes for our sweet which we actually decided to give a miss because we were tired. The restaurant wasn’t busy but we were told the kitchen was. There was a wedding on which presumably was organised and therefore staffed accordingly. We only had one course, I hate to think how long it would have taken if we had three. Our table was booked for 7.30 and we left the restaurant at 9pm. It isn’t normal to have one course in 90 minutes.

Food was good & tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful
Allocated room wasn’t clean. Cobwebs, dirty toilet and bashed in toilet door. Got moved to another room. All needed redecorating as outdated with old paint and old furniture. Mattresses were very old too.

Both single bed bases were broken and the bathroom door needs a bit shaving of as it scraped on the tiles and was difficult to shut it open

Only positive was the friendly receptionist
The room was tired and not sound proof. This meant everyone in the corridor could be heard. A bigger problem was the vegetable lasagne was too spicy to eat, when querying this was told it had been made with the wrong sauce. This made my wife unwell and we decided to cut our losses and not stay the night.

The hotel was conveniently near to an event we were attending, the rooms were spacious and reasonably comfortable and the hotel allowed dogs which was a prime requisite. The hotel staff were obliging and friendly and for the most part did their best to accommodate our wishes. We ate in the bar most evenings as dogs weren’t allowed in the restaurant, the bar menu was varied and the bar food most enjoyable.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again because it ticked most of our boxes but the rooms and furnishings are very tired and need updating. We had to change rooms after our first night as the noise from the kitchen fans woke us up in the early hours. We were able to move to a quiet room which we greatly appreciated so all good in the end. I would add, if any staff at the hotel read this, that small improvements could be made like fixing the toilet roll holders, replacing broken pedal bins etc. small points but would make a difference.
