Hôtel - Restaurant & Spa La Magdeleine - Mathias Dandine

Very peaceful hotel with a beautiful outdoor terrace under the trees and birdsong, and great breakfast. Close to a nature reserve which I recommend walking to as it is super beautiful. Pool is nice and quiet.

1. Rooms are in need of a refresh. We booked a “junior suite” which was v dark and dated, would have been ok given the price is reasonable but the air conditioning broke halfway through our stay and was never fixed. No one even apologised to us or tried to remedy the situation despite asking three times, instead they merely offered us one day of free breakfast when we complained again at check out while simultaneously trying to charge us for a second day of breakfast we never had. Meanwhile we had sweated away in bed, even waking at 3am to find a security guard who very kindly got us a fan. 2. No real gym just a couple pieces of equipment outside. There are 2 E-bikes which are never charged. 3. Pool is nice and peaceful but if you are expecting to be able to order drinks or have some kind of service at the pool this is not the hotel for that.

The garden is magnificent. Also rooms are comfortable, only the entrance is tight and squeezed in the room and the elevator is very small but they are very welcoming

Beautiful old country house; lovely pool; excellent cuisine.

The staff were helpful and the outside area for eating and relaxing was lovely. Lots of seating and shade and the pool was also very nice. We enjoyed the petanque court too.

Our room was a junior suite. The bathroom was large and spacious but smelt very damp and unpleasant and had no window. The shower was over the bath and the shower head hooked up at the end of the bath, which was surrounded by large tiles. This meant the water did not go far into the bath so you had to lean towards the water flow, which was dangerous as the bath was slippery. A decent shower would have been great and I am sure the bath was not sealed properly which meant the water leaked behind it and caused the damp. I did not expect this poor standard at this price.
