La Roseraie Hôtel Restaurant

Breakfast was very good. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent and well-priced, including a wonderful vegetarian dish. The room was comfortable with efficient ducted and silent air-conditioning (you cannot adjust the air conditioning but it is set at an appropriate temperature). The exterior of the hotel is very attractive and traditional and it is located in the centre of Montignac but sheltered from noise sources. The interior is also traditional and charming with a number of comfortable communal sitting areas on all levels. The garden and swimming pool are very pleasant (the pool is not large enough to do lengths but perfect for a relaxing swim). The lift is particularly cool. Staff were helpful and friendly and generally spoke good English.

Fixtures, fittings and decorations appear to span a number of decades, with a resulting mix of styles, and some are faded. We didn't mind this at all as the mix spoke of a continuity of history and everything was well-maintained and in good working order. However, some reviewers care about this kind of thing.

The room was a little tired. Shower was difficult to use. Light switch was broken.

Beautifully furnished and comfortable bedrooms and ours had air conditioning and a great view of the river. Helpful staff. A lift when we needed it.

The location of this hotel is great. The room and bathroom seemed clean and the linen was fresh.

The hotel room was expensive for what it was - it should be a quaint place but somehow misses the mark. Bed reasonably comfy, pillows hard and a bit lumpy. Few amenities, only soap and 2 small bottles of water, not replaced on the second day. Breakfast was a sorry and limited buffet, also too expensive.
