I find this hotel a convenient stop on the way up to Scotland. It’s is very cosy and the meals are excellent.

Its location, its quaintness and nicely decorated rooms
Whilst staff were professional and attentive, I personally felt there was a slight lack of friendliness. Meals were priced on the high side but the roast I had was good

There was plenty of space in the cottage. Parking to the front straight outside the front door. Breakfast in the pub was excellent. We couldn't get in for dinner as they were full so I would suggest booking in advance if you want evening meals. Very clean and was ideal for a family of 4.
Outside the cottage (rear garden) could do with tidying up and ladders left in the front garden but as we were only there for 1 night it really didn't affect us.

The check is was smooth, the family room was warm, spacious and clean and as per the photos. Breakfast wasn't too bad. Fine for a quick stop off but not a travel destination.
Located on a busy road with parking on the street outside. This is supposedly rated 4 stars but realistically is more like 2/3 stars. The decor and quality of the furnishings - the shower pressure, the pungent air fresheners (not great for people with allergies/aversion to chemicals in the air), the male perfumed shower/hand gel, the green lighting in the bathroom (with no obvious switch to turn it off), the plastic chandelier, the fake plants, etc are all reflective of this.
