Hotel De Limbourg

Hotel staff always very welcoming, hotel room spotless and good quality breakfast. The owners of this hotel are always on hand to assist.

We had booked this hotel in Sittard as we were visiting Maastricht for a concert, but all the hotels there were around double the price, so we chose to base ourselves in Sittard, as there are very good transport likns. The hotel is situated right in the town market place, which was wonderfully decorated for the Christmas festivities. It was an easy traffic free walk down from the station, around 15 minutes. The hotel was easy to find and check in was efficient with a warm welcome from the staff, but the check in desk itself was in a rather cramped area. Our allocated rooms were on the first floor. Unfortunately there was no lift, which I was not aware of, only a very narrow and tight spiral staircase, making carrying a heavy suitcase quite a challenge. The stairs were also very poorly lit. One of the rooms was a small single, although we had actually booked a double with a single occupancy. The other room was a very small double, with no view apart from the window to the bedroom opposite. There was a wardrobe and a desk which took up most of the space in the room. The bathroom was ok, with shower above the middle of the bath, meaning you had to stand on the curved bit if the bath to take a shower, which can be a bit dangerous. The bed mattress was quite soft. Breakfast was ok, with a decent selection of items, but staff were sometimes often slow to automatically replenish things that had run out, but were nevertheless very helpful. There is also a bar at the front of the hotel that serves snacks with your drinks, plus an adjacent restaurant, as well as an outside terrace, but it was far too cold when we visited for sitting outside. All the public areas were very well decorated for Christmas. So all in all, it was ok for a few nights, as we were out and about for most of the time, but I wouldn't say our rooms were comfortable to spend any prolonged time in. Maybe other rooms were more comfortable than ours, it's hard to say, I can only review my own experience. If visiting Sittard again though, I would look for a more modern hotel.
