Location is fab. Within striking distance of all South Lakes attractions. Views are excellent and the house is spacious and quirky.
Though there is a nice old pub across the road, it is somewhat odd. The doors are sometimes open, sometimes shut and the menu changes daily.

Great location for exploring the Lakes... plenty of space indoors for our family of 5. ( kids aged 8, 11 & 13) Master bedroom has comfy double bed, and two more rooms with two single beds in each. Quirky, old cottage with lots of character. Kitchen well equipped and had supplies such as kitchen roll...fairy liquid, tea towels, tea bags, coffee etc along with all utensils etc. Lounge has tv and log burner. Nice good size decent powerful shower which is always a result ! I was worried after reading some of the reviews, and although there were some signs of wear and tear, people will always find something to moan about, you can see from the pics that this not a brand new house, so realistically this is to be expected and for the price its a fantastic base for exploring the Lake District. We visited Aira force waterfall 1hr, scaffel pike 1hr, Windermere - 15 mins to the base, ( foot paddleboarding ) Coniston 20 mins and Lowther Castle 1hr 20. There is one parking space directly outside the front door but if you have a large / long car as we did you can park just over the road in a lay-by it's about 150m. No big deal for us. Theres a good information booklet written by the owners and also loads of leaflets about local attractions in the kitchen drawer. Good wifi, not much phone signal but ok in the garden ! We went at Easter and garden backs on to a huge field full of sheep and lambs which was lovely If we go back to the Lakes we would not hesitate to stay here again
Shared pathway along the house at the back, some of the neighbours looked in as they walked past. We just pulled down the blinds a bit.

The cottage was very spacious and well equipped. Good location for access to both Coniston & Windemere
The bed linen had quite alot of stains. Need more bigger bath towels
