A quaint cottage.
Coszy cottage the biscuits and crisps and milk where lovely plus the fire was laid .
The double bed could have been larger.

Charming and relaxing retreat from the world
In the heart of the Esk Valley and set back from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line. the cottage offered spectacular views, peaceful location and access to many walks to explore the surrounding area. Good location to tour the surrounding coastline and visit historic monuments.
The cottage itself was clean, cosy with mod cons to suit the traveller, well proportioned, decorated and furnished in keeping with the period and location of the property. Parking close by and easy to load and unload the car. Keys easy to access with pin entry. Nice touch of flapjacks and a lovely card from our host Alison after our long journey! We spent every day enjoying the beautiful Yorkshire Moors, sunsets and sunrises in between an unbroken peaceful sleep.
Our little dog Benson loved his stay as well and one of the reasons we chose this cottage was that it was dog friendly. So many walks and enriching experiences, we always kept Benson on the leadin line with the countryside code, and he enjoyed the North Yorkshire Moors train rides - super dog friendly!
If you are looking for a complete reset from all the hectic hullabaloo then this is the place for you. We felt completely rested and refreshed and were sad to leave but we would return. I should add that the cottage is ideal whether you are a train buff, avid walker or simply wanting to get away from it all. Thank you Alison for letting us have your beautiful cottage for a very special holiday.
PS It’s a good idea to order your shopping online to have it delivered once you’ve arrived. There is also a lovely Co-operative in Grosmont next to the station which is a 20 minute walk from the cottage for any little bits you might need. The owner is lovely and has the most marvellous array of sweet jars that take you back to your childhood!

Very picturesque location.
Despite the location in a fairly remote area the cottage was in a row of other cottages with quiet neighbours so didn’t feel alone or unsafe. Very cosy and comfortable and all appliances easy to use - made for a very relaxing stay. The added bonus was the steam train that went past a few times ago on a local tourism route - fantastic sight to see an old steam train in operation again and quite a highlight of the stay.
The cottage was located in a remote valley area reached by a lot of steep and windy roads so wouldn’t recommend it during the winter months, but once you got used to getting in and out of the location it wasn’t a problem. It was central to the Yorkshire Moor locations so that was good.

Fantastic location, great property
The location was perfect for a special visit on the NYMR - just a short walk along the rail trail into either Grosmont or Goathland and lovely scenery too. Very quiet location but with a great view of the Steam Railway.

Love the area. Walked over 50 miles during the week. The moors are amazing. Dud not use car. Goathland a good walk away. Grosmont nearby. Went to Whitby twice by train.
The view from bedroom window was amazing. Especially of the steam trains!!!

Property a bit dated. Rug in lounge was a trip hazard so we took it up.

Christmas Break
The location is lovely, really quiet and great for walks along the old railway line to Grosmont or Beck Hole. The cottage was warm and comfortable and the flapjack and mince pies provided were a thoughtful touch. Ideal for railway enthusiasts as the NYMR runs past the end of the row of cottages.
Chapel cottage is clean and comfortable but the fittings and decor could do with an update.
