Ylläshilla Cottage

We stayed here over Christmas as a group of five adults and two dogs, and there was more than enough space for everyone — we could easily have accommodated additional guests. The cottage is very well stocked and thoughtfully equipped, making it feel comfortable and effortless from the moment we arrived. The outdoor kota is an absolute must-use. We grilled beef and made s’mores there, and it was incredibly cozy and atmospheric — one of the highlights of our stay. A beautiful place in a magical setting. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We had the most wonderful time at Yllashilla The cottage is just perfect, it has everything you could possibly need! We used the sauna, toasted marshmallows in the Kota, used the sledges, and had a little go on the fat bikes that were all provided! It was in the most picturesque, private location. It felt like we were in Narnia, it really was a winter wonderland. The cottage is very warm and cosy, was never once cold. The cooking facilities are like home from home, so much so, we made use of these everyday and didn't actually eat out at all. It was just nice to eat and relax in the cottage after busy days, play games and spend quality family time together. I would 1000% recommend this beautiful place. We are already booking to return. Nicola and Tina were most helpful, quick to respond and answered all of our questions. Thank you for an unforgettable, amazing family holiday.

There is nothing not to like!

We are travelling in a group of 8 people and this cottage is PERFECT! If you want a rustic cottage, this completely fits the bill. 1. Nicola and Tanja were very accommodating and quick to response. While early check-in is a case by case basis depending if there are guests prior us, Tanja prioritised the cleaning for us. And the cottage was spotless! I had a few questions initially and they were quick to respond. 2. The cottage had everything well stocked up. Kitchen rolls, dishwashing liquid, fire starter etc. All utensils and cutlery are very well stocked and you have very adequate cooking equipment to cook up a nice meal. 3. There is one shower room but it’s not a problem for 8 of us. Truth is, in a big group like this, not everyone has the same habit to shower at the same time so it wasn’t an issue for us. The shower room is big and spacious and water power and heat is nice! The sauna is right beside the shower area and sauna works brilliantly! 4. Lots of fun things to do. Nicola provided sleds and 2 new fat bikes so all of us were having a great time playing around outside the house. 5. Floor is very nicely heated and the whole house has lots of heating system. 6. Nicola is very thoughtful to provide a mop at the front door so that we can mop up when we enter with our snowy boots. It’s all these little things! Love the fairy lights as well. By the way, there is a good dryer too. 7. It’s a very short drive to the ski resort and town centre. About 5 to 10 mins only. This place can nicely fit 10 people. This cottage is just beyond our expectation and I will definitely book this again if I’m back in Lapland. The cottage completely fulfilled my dream of being in a winter wonderland.

Nothing!

Stunning location, beautiful views and very quiet. Beautiful walk through the woods to the main town about 20-30 mins depending on weather. Car is ideal though if possible but not essential. Able to do everything we wanted without. The house is great everything you need and more. Upstairs there are 4 single beds, bean bags tv and reading area and a bathroom which the 4 children loved as they had their own huge space with ensuite. Ski bus from town to resort Huskies and reindeer half hour walk - Konijänkkä Santa can visit the cabin - momentswithsanta were incredible Snowmobile hire from the town - snow fun safaris. Ice sauna and lake swimming in town too. Loved every minute! Thank you!

Great location and value for money. Not overpriced like so many places. Big plus for the fireplace and floor heating that is must for this kind of cabin for winter sports. Also great that pets were allowed to visit inside. Kids loved the upstairs where there is surprisingly plenty of room!

Just some small things to consider if you are thinking to stay here like the hallway being tiny if you have a lot of winter sports clothing etc for 8 people. 😅

Great Cottage!

The cottage is situated in a quiet place. There is a lot of kitchen stuff so it was really great. Moreover, a lot of nice New Year / Christmas candles and lights can be found here so it was great to spend our New Year holidays here. The host is respectable and hospitable person so we could rely on his help or advice. Surely, the best moment of our staying here was a bright Northern Lights over the half of sky.

There were some troubles with fireplace so that the smoke was coming inside the house one day. Most probably it was because of snowfall that blocked the chimney so this problem should not appear the other day.
