Issues not resolved by owners/agents, lack of communication

Great location

There were no curtains or blinds on the bedroom windows so we had to go out to find eye masks in order to sleep. The carbon monoxide alarm (a basic safety requirement) did not have working batteries - the batteries had been removed to stop the 'low power' beeping from the machine. We alerted booking.com via phone and online message and requested a callback from the owners/agents so we could ask them to fix the issues but no one called us back. About a week afterwards I heard from the letting agents asking me if the issues had been resolved, I explained the situation but never heard back from them. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was particularly disappointing. There were also water leak stains on many of the walls (which were not shown in the pictures). I appreciate leaks can happen which are unforeseen, but it would have been nice to have received some communication about this beforehand.

Damp unhealthy conditions

I contacted the property on the morning of our stay as there were large damp patches in every room and a musty smell throughout. We had to sleep with the windows open it was that bad as we were coughing (I’m 6 months pregnant so it wasn’t healthy conditions). I’ve still not had a response from the owner after chasing through here and Sykes cottages after 2 weeks. I’ve been holding off from leaving a review in case we were contacted with a resolution, but unfortunately there has been no response. Unfortunately, the pictures don’t do it justice, it was worse in real life. Additionally (not as bad as the damp issue but still needs mentioning) it says on the booking.com listing parking is available for one car. This isn’t correct and needs updating. We paid around £28. Sykes sent an email about parking charges and when I queried this they told me the info was out of date on booking.com and I had to contact them to resolve it.

Fantastic few days away

Fantastic location, very spacious, clean and tidy, would recommend and book again Parking was no issue at all

Couple of little things, not anything that could spoil your trip but need addressing, at least 3 light bulbs were out, no bin bags at all and could do with some hand wash in the bathroom

location was excellent, near shops, pubs,restaurants etc

apartment was very nice and spacious. Kitchen could have done with a few more pans and utensils and instructions on using the oven would have been good. Bath towels too small as well. However still a great apartment.

We had a wonderful week exploring the lakes from a great location

The location was great for exploring the lakes either by car or on foot. It was very handy for provisions and restaurants without having to drive anywhere. The apartment was more spacious than we were expecting

The bed is comfortable but it squeaks a little. The frying pans need to be replaced. Perhaps provide a photo of the gate that enters the property as it’s hard to find from the road without a sign or explain it is next to the gate with the Co-Op sign on it

Perfect location but very noisy and difficult to find the property.

Great location - when we were able to find it!! It would be helpful to have better signage to the property.

Difficult to find the property. No mention on booking website of the the very noisy location - on main road and early morning deliveries to the Co-Op below from 5.30am!!! No curtains in the bedrooms to drown out sound and light and no hooks or shelves in the very narrow bathroom. All cooking knives very blunt. No mattress/pillow protectors and sheets on double bed marked and stained. No recycling facilities.

Had a great getaway. Lots of things to do around Ambleside.

Apartment located in centre of Ambleside close to shops and restaurants.

Had difficulty finding access to the property. The wooden gate and fence did not have a sign for High Ridge.

Good location and comforable.

The double bed was not very comfortable, very squeaky and hard mattress. TV signal not good, poor reception, therefore wifi would be a good option please, especially when you stay for a week.
