The hotel is a short train ride away from Shizuoka station, plus a short walk. It's on the ocean. Has a pretty view. The hotel rooms are very clean. The staff was kind and the hot springs were relaxing and excellent. Avoid the "all-in-one" washer-dryers machines. They don't dry clothes. Even in the dryer mode I heard water sloshing around inside the machine's outer wall, and water ran out when I opened the door. I spent a fair amount of the late night putting more coins in the machine, only to end up with soggy, warm clothes. I ended up taking them to my next location and drying them there in a proper dryer. Except for this inconvenience and being ripped off by the so-called dryer, everything else was very good and enjoyable. The man at the front desk gave me plastic bags to put my wet laundry in. He was apologetic and tried to help the best he could.

The hotel is in a nice location, with a beach. The staff is polite and quick to help. The rooms are clean. The onsen is relaxing and great! But don't do laundry. They have "all-in-one" washer-dryers which don't dry clothes. I spent too much of the night putting more coins in the supposed dryer, only to have my clothes be a little warm and very damp. Any "dryer" where you can hear washer water sloshing around in it, and when you open the door water spills out, is not a dryer. The hotel should have real dryers. National/Pnasonic should not even sell these terrible all in one contraptions. I ended up having to take them to Hiroshima and drying them in a proper dryer at my next hotel. Except for this, everything else at Kur and Hotel Suruga was very pleasant and I hope to stay there again ahead.

Although the location is not that convenient, the hotel offers free shuttle from and to 2 JR stations.
There're many different types of hot spring and sauna. Partial view of Mt Fuji is available from the hot spring and restaurant on upper floor.
