The staff were so motivated to make our stay as positive an experience as possible. They were a wonderful combination of politeness and friendliness. As for the breakfasts, I suggest this hotel may have provided the best I've had outside my own home.

The only real negative concerns the on-going refurbishment. Perhaps we should have been forewarned? The hotel was sectioned off day after day as different areas were worked on behind dust sheets. The hotel and their contractors did an excellent job of managing this, but it meant that some of the facilities were unavailable. So, what we got was not what the website stated was available. To finish on a positive, this excellent hotel will be spot-on once the refurbishment is complete.

Breakfast was excellent. Location was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioning worked well.

Initial room (904) had loud noises from fan etc noticeable at night. This was not from the air conditioner in room but elsewhere. There was only a bath with a hand held shower and no bath plug. Not ideal and impossible to keep water from going on floor, window etc. We were offered another room for the rest of our stay which was accepted. This did have a proper shower. The room (903) was not as large as first room but was quiet at night. The room facilities were not as advertised. There was no mini bar, the fridge didn't work despite assurances it did. I believe there was no working fridge in Rooms 901, 903, 904. Room 902 may have had a working fridge. There was no toaster, kettle, microwave, stove top, dining table, pants press. Had to request glasses for water. Floors were not wooden. Only 1 stool provided - not a seating area. Most of above were not essential for our stay but it is about the principle of getting facilities as advertised.

The bedroom was fine & bed comfortable

There were 60 stairs to our room which we didn’t know about. No lift - very difficult with luggage. Some of the staff not helpful others ok.It was noisy at night.
