It's a quiet, peaceful place where I feel at ease.

I loved Meabh's gentleness and kindness. After my stay, she dropped me off near school, which made it so convenient and comfortable. I was so grateful! I also loved the dog and the lovely handmade fabrics.

Culture is key to a great stay!! Great people.

The atmosphere, the people who run it, the other guests. A lovely place. Accepts dogs!! Make sure yours is well-behaved. Keeps others safe and comfortable so they continue to accept dogs :)

Just a tad far from things. With a car it didn’t matter, but just that. It is in fairly easy distance to see a lot of the awesome things in Northern Ireland! Did I mention the nice people!!

Good spot!

I liked the little room felt cozy, and the hostel provided a breakfast of toast and coffee/tea and cereal. There was lots of parking available and the room was a bunk bed and mostly cozy.

I feel like I am quite resourceful and could not figure out how to turn the shower on.

Lovely friendly atmospehre. Lots of space and Dog friendly :) Great big wheelchair accessible shower and big rooms

So much better than just a hostel! Highly recommended!

Don't be fooled, this place is so much better than a hostel! It's out in the countryside but near facilities. The welcome from Maebh was great. The family room was very spacious & the bathroom was massive. The beds were ultra comfortable (really high quality mattresses on all the beds). The kitchen & dining facilities were first class, any crockery or cooking utensils you needed were provided. Maebh rang local restaurants for us to ensure we got a decent evening meal. She had extensive local knowledge and was a mine of information. There was a nice class of fellow guests as well! No rowdy revellers! We wanted for nothing here, everything you could possibly need is provided. We would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely location

Lovely quiet location with a perfect friendly host. Safe to park a motorbike (or many...) and bikes are welcome. All amenities are excellent. Very well recommended.

Excellent value for money

You'll get a warm and friendly welcome from Maebh and if she's not there Marielle will greet you and show you around. The Barn is a huge older-style property with a large sitting room for guests with a wood-burner. Unusually for a hostel, toast and cereal as well as tea and coffee are available for guests free of charge. My room was well-equipped and the shower was lovely. The Barn is in a small village about 5 miles from the nearest bigger place so a car is necessary. It was perfectly quiet and I had a good night's sleep. Thanks Maebh!

Memorable and excellent

everything especially warmth of Maeve; little touches like bread cereal and milk; very well equipped kitchen ; welcoming living room- Maeve even lit the fire for us; location very special and peaceful. Feels like hostel is part of the community and not another hotel chain. Bedroom and all accomodation immaculate. Sorted us at very short notice.

It's hard to review this place. It's basic but clean and comfortable and for the price you really can't complain. Got a shower and a good night's sleep which is really all I look for while I'm working away.

The room could do with a few repairs/upgrades. The shower was hot and functional but the head needs replacing. Horizontal jets caught me off guard! lol

Customer service was very good

What I liked 1. I like the fact that when I decided to leave they did not make a fuss and refunded my money 2. I'll say good value for money 3. The place was neat. An adult would be okay staying but not many kids 4. When I wanted to leave the Owner encouraged me to stay but did not force me to stay which was helpful and he even gave me phone numbers when I asked for taxi company which was quite helpful Overall I'll say he was very helpful and supportive. Although I'll not stay again I'll recommend it to adults who are on a budget and don't mind somewhere far from town

Quite a few reasons why I did not like it 1. Too far from shops or city center. Like in the middle of no where and buses stop running at 5pm 2. My children did not like it as it was quite old and atmosphere not lively like hotels which my children are used to. We stayed at Premier Inn, Marriott hotel & etap in Belfast before coming here and the kids said it did not feel or look like the hotels. They said it's an old house and did not like the look and atmosphere 3. It was obviously an old house from maybe Victorian times with old furniture and decorations from then but when I mentioned it as part of reason the owner said it was a new build and built in 2014 which was Very obviously not true and this put me off I'll not recommended to someone who has young children but will recommend for groups on a tour who just need somewhere to lay their heads and ALSO have their own transport or don't mind paying more money to pay for taxi

We only stayed one night passing through to the ferry to Scotland but it was warm and memorable.

This was our first experience sleeping in a hostel. The outside is a bit deceptive in that you don't realize the inside is going to be so cozy. The best way we could describe the outside would be quirky farmhouse, with odds and ends lying about. The owner and staff were exceptionally kind. Absolutely lovely to meet them and truly the best part of the stay. They were so welcoming to both our two-legged and four-legged children. It is always a difficult task traveling with a dog and finding suitable accommodations. But when you find a place that truly loves dogs as much as you do, it is always uplifting. We loved that our dog was able to feel at home and wander without issue. We felt very welcomed here. The common areas were warm and comfy and it was lovely to sit in front of the fire. We honestly did not want to go to bed and leave it. They had several games, books, movies and a lot of interesting decor.

There were two things that we felt took away from the quaint cozy atmosphere. The first being, it was difficult to get a good nights sleep due to the squeaky metal frames of the beds. I think if the squeak had not been there it would have been a nicer stay. The other, and this could be our naivety regarding hostels in the country, but there were a lot of flies. It is located next to farm land and animals, but it seemed they were everywhere and excessive.

Friendliest staff and cozy place!

Super friendly staff that were very helpful when we were late and good to give advice on places to see! Overall great stay and would come back. The common room was super cozy and so nice that there were coffee, milk and toast to have in the morning.

Only thing that was not as comfortable when sleeping was the green light from the fire alarm that was shining quite brightly in the room we had. Some people might not be bothered by it, but we both found it to be very strong and difficult to sleep with it shining so brightly.

Just worked perfectly for my trip.

Room had everything I needed, kitchen was superb so I could cook what and when I wanted. Staff really helpful especially when I ended up arriving early. Gave me all the flexibility I needed on this one night stay.

Breakfast was what ever you wanted. Well equipped kitchen.

Floor above our room had a family who were walking about to very late and up very early getting ready to leave. The floor squeeked awful and children thumping about.. Wee bit annoying

A pleasant stay in a well located and very interesting place

The host was extremely pleasant, and the location was perfect for someone with a car, allowing us to explore everything between Belfast and the North coast with ease. We also met many other interesting travellers, and the kids loved how interesting and filled with oddities the common areas were.

My wife is more used to hotels, and this is not a hotel, but rather a self-serve bed and breakfast, with a bit of a hostel feeling, albeit without the backpackers. I really liked it, but I recognise that it is not for everyone.
