Manten-no-Hoshi

The onsen availability is amazing, two outdoors and two indoor. The outer ones are much hotter. 50 degrees and the inside are around 40

We spent excellent time here. The room was perfect, the view, the facilities, the atmosphere. Also, we enjoyed both onsens (indoors and outdoors) available at the ryokan. Outdoor one was the best, of course. There are cute yukatas too! The location is a little bit far from main attractions, but it was actually good and not too touristy. The staff members were very nice and helpful. Overall, we were very happy that we found this accommodation, thank you very much for your hard work!

You can clearly hear your neighbours even if they are not shouting, which can be disturbing. But it is an expected thing for the traditional Japanese accommodation.

It was Japanese style and it is different. Location was ok for us as we had a rental car but people who rely on the public transport, it can be isolated. No restaurants within a walking distance. It is a place to eat across the road…very nice food but it took ages to get the food, because is only one person is doing the serving and the cooking…

Unfortunately the onsen water was too hot for us so we didn’t go in. The shower head in the onsen wasn’t working properly with hot-cold water and it wasn’t possible to have a reasonable temperature.

The room is a good size, with a big table and enough space for two futon beds. Its located in a beautiful location near the Ohiradai train station and bus stop which is a good in between point if you either want to go back towards central Hakone or going to Gora for the cable car. The owner was also nice and helpful.

A big negative is that there is only two bathrooms in the whole building. There is only one womens toilet to share with all the guests, while the mens toilet had two urinals and two toilets. Luckily our room was right across from the toilet, but it was definitely inconvenient. Because there are no bathrooms in your room, you also have to share showers which are only for the onsens. There are two onsens which one of them was moldy. What was worse was both onsens didnt have locks on the doors, so someone could easily walk in by accident. This might be a nitpick but the walls are also pretty thin, which we didnt have a problem with for the first two nights but the third night the guests next door were very loud and you could hear everything they were saying.
