First and foremost the help of two employees, Zoya (at the reception) and Lubov (an assistant). If their behaviour is representative of La Fenice, rest assured you are in good hands. Second, right at the entrance to La Fenice, one can eat at Pizzeria Amuni with terrific Italian fare (to a yummy dough) with great smile and service. Finally, about a km from the Old Town.
There are a couple of express food marts within 5-10 minutes. We had been luckier during our trip 5 other stays.

Hotel is outside of the busy touristy centre, an easy walk or tram ride away from the old town. There were lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
Air con not very effective so room was hot.

Very close to national museum and very close to Metro station
Hotel is nice enough but 4 stars is a bit of a push.
