Hôtel Prince Albert Gare de Lyon

Staff were welcoming, the room was super-clean, linen excellent and a rather good shower. It was ideal. Located close to Gare de Lyon for our onward journey the next day with 12 noon check out very helpful. Many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby.

Little Far from Main city like Eiffel Tower, but still have many Metro & buses.

The hotel is very clean and has an excellent location, especially if you need to stay near Gare de Lyon. I arrived very early in the morning, and the night porter was extremely attentive and kind. Although all rooms were still occupied, he made sure I could wait comfortably until a room became available and was cleaned. The breakfast staff were also very caring, friendly and pleasant. The hotel team seemed to work quickly and efficiently during the morning check-outs and room cleaning.

The main issue was communication regarding early check-in. After the staff changed shifts, I again explained that I was interested in checking in as soon as any room became available. I then waited for almost two more hours while many guests were checking out and the rooms were being cleaned, but nobody informed me when a room became available. When I finally decided to leave my luggage and go out for breakfast, the receptionist told me that rooms were already available and I could check in. I was honestly shocked, because if I had waited another two hours, it seems nobody would have told me. The breakfast was very limited: bread, cold cuts, cheese, bananas, citrus fruit, cereals and drinks. Considering there are many cafés, bakeries and supermarkets nearby, I do not think it is worth paying extra for breakfast at the hotel. My room was on the first floor, with large thin windows, so I could hear everything from the street. It was also quite cold in the bathroom because of the windows, and I am not sure how comfortable it would be there in winter. The shower cabin doors did not close properly. There are two Ibis hotels just a few metres away, at a very similar price, so in my opinion the price-to-service ratio here is not fully justified.
